I'll take an honest crack at it.  People seek to justify their beliefs through politics and want to see politics reflect those beliefs.  Religious people (and yes, I'm painting with a broad brush and making base assumptions here) want to see the laws reflect their beliefs.  Non-religious people do not want religion reflected in laws.  On a very base level it's about validation of beliefs.
 
Personally, I fall somewhere between agnostic and atheist.  I don't profess to know the truth but I'm sure that that bible doesn't have it right.  I don't say that to be insulting to those that do believe in the bible; it's just an honest expression of how I feel.  As I feel that way, I bristle when religion is used as a basis for laws, or a basis for discrimination (even while recognizing my own hypocrisy at discriminating against religious people).  It's a fine line, and I understand that those I disagree with tend to feel the same about me.

For those few games Guillen, Mondesi, and Vlad may have been the best throwing outfield of all time. 

He had lawyered up.  The longer it went on the messier it would get and the greater chance it became a distraction. 
If the reports out there are correct and the best the MLPBA would have agreed to was a 90% buyout, then the Angels actually ended up with a better deal by trading him for 15 mil in relief.   Had they cut him loose he likely still signs with Texas anyway.  
 
People will mock them, fans will bitch and moan, but beyond the emotional reactions they likely got the best possible deal they were going to get for a player they OBVIOUSLY wanted gone.

This is extremely scary.  Teams are too focused on maximizing ticket revenue right now and it's going to cost them in the long term.  When I was in high school my buddies and I would go to a ton of Angels games because you could get children tix in the left field pavilion for $5 and they even had the Tuesday kids ticket deal for $3 uppers one year.  There is no way my friends and I would've paid the prices they are charging these days to go to games since in high school money is tough to come by and I can only assume current high school kids feel the same way.  They need to go back to the old theory of cheap seats to fill the ball park on a nightly basis rather than maximizing ticket revenue (not just the Angels, all teams).  

i dont mind the jets getting a lot of press - it really was a HUGE thing for the playoffs to come back since when, 1996?
they are a great hockey market with a young team that wasn't expected to get to the playoffs for a couple years.
we are expected to go on a deep run every year.
exciting for them to get there and lose, expected of us to get there and steam roll them.
 
we have zero excuse for losing in the next round though.
we own both those teams.
 
best part is seeing the ducks play/get results like they should.
none of this playing the kings and just crumbling, or losing to old man slow ass detroit.
 
we should destroy whomever we play next.

Family is much more about the people you are closest too. Really the only connection you have to those people is similar DNA

the Calgary loss did add a bit of an extra punch though, when it was Jonas Hiller who beat us in net for the Flames win.
