...and a bullpen
....and a larger payroll
....and a Trout extension
....and a deeper roster in AAA
....and prospects that can play at the major league level
....and flexibility to add impact players at deadlines

I think it was probably discussed at length, including asking Ausmus how he would approach it. I wonder if that's also one of the reasons why you didn't see an inexperienced guy like Chavez didn't get the nod.
Do keep in mind he had to deal with another future HOF in Cabrera, as well as a borderline hof guy in Victor Martinez, as their skills started to diminsh so it's not like he's going in to this situation with no experience.

eligrba got a reaction from SlappyUtilityMIF in scioscia's availability
Scioscia will first be commentator then a front office magoo before becoming a manager again. I know no one in the business and nothing about the business but I read AWin and that counts for something.

Every time I see this I imagine Trump responding to a question concerning the rights of people making less than a billion dollars.

Again?
Why would the Angels consider this based on what it would cost and what is received?
Cost: Lots of prospects that could be difference makers in the future and for a long time into the future.
Receive: Old and very expensive pitcher/1 year rental for an excellent outfielder.
No.

eligrba reacted to T.G. in Kick Joe West Out of Baseball
We need umpires that understand that every close call should go against the Red Sox.
The fans in that section should have caught Betts, pulled him into the stands and made him disappear. I mean what's the point in having home field advantage if you can't do things like that?
Joe West, Angel Hernandez and C.B. Buckner all need to go. Throw Doug Eddings in there too. C'mon AW moderators - get it done.

eligrba reacted to AngelsLakersFan in Angels administering 2-hour written test to manager candidates
Interviews are not an effective means of determining the best candidate for hire. It makes far more sense to incorporate other methods of working through potential hires.
also I had assumed this thread was a joke

They provide the best rationale for having such a screening instrument. Good thinking, Eppler.
