How many remember that Del Rice had a 385 OBP in 1961, I still think that is a halo record for catchers.

Angels 1961 got a reaction from Slegnaac in Angel player who changed baseball Rick Reichardt
Signed by the Angels in 1964 in a bidding war for 205,000 the highest paid to a player at that time. In 1965 MLB changed way players could sign with teams by having it's first draft because of this bidding war. Reichardt was first player to hit HR in the new Anaheim stadium 1966. He was hitting 288 with 16 HR and 44 RBI in 89 games that year but an ailment caused him to have a kidney removed. He was never the same player after that. People remember Curt Flood (as they should) and others who changed the game but not many remember Rick Reichardt and how he changed the game. 1965 first player drafted was Rick Monday.

I would go after Marcus Semien, younger more power not as injury prone

Angels 1961 got a reaction from Chuck in Angels favorite teams of the past
I had a bet with a Dodger fan Baylor vs Reggie Smith 1 dollar for each HR and RBI. Smith got hurt like in early May and Baylor was MVP.

Mine would be 1962. Team finished 3rd in AL in only their second year. Many unknown players had career years such as Billy Moran, Lee Thomas, Ken McBride, Leon Wagner and others.
