People really seem to want Bumgarner and his road ERA of 5.29 and 4.97 the last two years....   I know who he used to be but what exactly do Angels fans think they'd be getting?

Pay the man, Arte, and get this done!

Arte is a billionaire. The team’s value has gone up big time since he purchased the team. He can sell it for far more than he spent. Whether he’s overspending what the team takes in or not, if he’s serious about winning and not wasting Trout’s career, he needs to step up  and be willing to pass the luxury tax. This is a key window. If Arte waits, the Trout window will be gone. Spend less and make more later. 
Go big or quit talking about trying to win. He went out and got Maddon. He extended Trout. All of that is pointless if you’re going to be principled and cautious financially now. Don’t leave the job half done. Don’t be outbid on Cole. The Yankees don’t have our desperation. If you have to outspend them by 20m, do it. Then go and sign Rendon or Strasburg. It’s as simple as that. This is Arte’s shot, he needs to not blow it. It’s about legacy - which he supposedly used to care about.

I genuinely don’t get what the deal is with people that continue to insist that the uniform be changed.  The red cap and white jerseys should remain primary home jersey.  If you want to make the red one the away and get rid of the grey.  Fine.  Personally I like the grey roads and would prefer those to the red, but whatever red or grey.  
 
if fans want to have something new it should only be the 3rd jersey.  It seems like a pretty good consensus of people seem to like something inspired by the 70’s and 80’s look.  Maybe that would be cool if it was modernized quite a bit.  They just look very aged otherwise. 
 
I think that not being just another shade of blue is an important branding tool for the team.  The Dodgers are blue.  That’s it.  The Angels have spent the last 20 years making red the Angels thing.  It would be dumb to abandon that.  I think in baseball building brand identity is important.  More so in a lot of ways then the other sports.  You don’t do that changing uniforms and colors and logos.

Yes. I think a big part of the problem is that not alot of people play the sport and therefore cant relate to how hard and amazing the game can be. For example, several years ago a friend from graduate school and myself went to a game. This guy is a basketball player and never played the game. There was a ball hit in between short and 3rd into shallow left. Aybar ranged to his right made a backhand play, turned and threw a strike chest high to first. I was on my feet ecstatic. He was completely dumbfounded as to my excitement. Basically, he had no understanding of how difficult, next to impossible, that play was to make let alone the athletic skill required to make it. He could not relate.

My post above is too long, but one more point:
Paying Trout and not having the starting pitching is madness.  It’s crazy.
The Rangers paid ARod and didn’t have the pitching.  Stupid.  It got them nothing.
Look at the Nationals.  They let Harper go but had the starting pitching and just won the World Series.  There is no way they win the World Series WITH Harper but WITHOUT Max Scherzer and Strasburg.
The Angels have no business paying Trout and not paying for the pitching they need.
