Dick Enberg reacted to Angels 1961 in Thoughts on the Angels?
We need Ward back he has more value than people on AW give him credit for.

Dick Enberg got a reaction from cals in Holy Hell, Trevor Bauer 2.0!
28 pages on this sicko who played everyone like a fool last year?

Yeah, i thought there would be more by now, too.

Dick Enberg got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Angels to Acquire Max Stassi for OFs Rainier Rivas, Raider Uceta
Agree! 1966 was the first year I collected cards. know these faces all to well!

Dick Enberg reacted to Blarg in Victor Rojas' Play By Play Replacement
Fabian is a moron. Mota does color for the Spanish broadcast and Smith is unable to recognize a pitch in the dirt from one over the batter's head, let alone keep up with the action on the field.

Dick Enberg got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Bruce Hines is the Angels new first base coach
I hear he can twirl his right arm, point with his left hand and chew bubble gum all at the same time. Who would have thought! Go Halos!

Dick Enberg reacted to fanfromday1 in Angels acquisition that you were 'meh' on that turned out pretty good?
I guess my 'meh' trade would be the 1971 trade that sent Jim Fregosi (my favorite player at the time) to the Mets for Leroy Stanton, Don Rose, Francisco Estrada, and a struggling pitcher named Nolan Ryan.

Dick Enberg reacted to totdprods in Angels option Luis Rengifo and Patrick Sandoval to alternate training site; call up Jose Quijada and Jared Walsh
He's 23...his rookie season last year was fairly decent all things considered.
Look at how similar the lines are for these three players...
Rengifo: .228/.316/.348/.664 , OPS + of 84 over 466 PA, with 19 doubles, 3 triples, 8 HR, 49 BB, 106 K - through age 23. Aybar: .262/.298/.348/.646, OPS+ of 70 over 626 PA, with 24 doubles, 7 triples, 4 HR, 24 BB, 85 K - and this is actually including his first three seasons, age 22, 23, and 24. Mystery: .239/.298/.346/.644, OPS+ of 76 over 635 PA, with 24 doubles, 6 triples, 8 HR, 47 BB, 76 K through age 22. Aybar's age 24 season is when he started looking like a major leaguer. OPSed .699 and that's when he hit 26 of his first 35 career XBH.
The glaring difference, offensively, is Aybar's batting average and far less strikeouts, but both of those have changed quite a bit across baseball since Aybar debuted in 2006.
The mystery player? Cleveland's Jose Ramirez, who broke out his age 23 season hitting .312 with 46 doubles. Yes, a year older but also with more MLB experience under his belt already.
Personally, I'm starting to hope the Angels deal La Stella and/or Simmons, and Rengifo or Fletcher get everyday reps at SS to wrap the year up. If one of them looks like they can hold down SS in '21, it saves us a ton of money to pursue pitching.
There is always so much chatter here about how good the Dodgers FO is at finding talent and pulling off great trades...why do you think they were reportedly interested in moving Peterson, Stripling, and Andy Pages, ranked mid of their Top 30, for a package headlined by Rengifo? There’s something to like there and they saw it.

Dick Enberg got a reaction from eligrba in OC Register: Joe Maddon to interview with Angels this week
Maddon brings a personality to the manager position. People be looking forward to his post game interviews and more. Boring Brad was just that. Flat and boring. Arte wants Hollywood!

Dick Enberg reacted to tdawg87 in Do you think the Angels will heavily pursue Anthony Rendon?
Sick rotations!
The Angels sign Cole and Strasburg then trade Simmons in a package to NY for Thor.
Cole, Strasburg, Syndergaard, Ohtani, Canning
I'll be in my bunk.

Dick Enberg reacted to T.G. in Gameday Thread: NLDS : Nats @ Dodgers Game 1 10-3-2019
@Dick Enberg - Let's get something straight here. "My oh my" was the phrase used by the late Dave Niehaus, broadcaster for the Seattle Mariners.
"Oh my" was the phrase used by the late Dick Enberg.
Don't be a dick. Get it right. You should be embarrassed and ashamed of yourself. We've let you get away with this crap for long enough. Straighten up. Get it right.
If you continue to use "my oh my" you'd better change your name and start hanging out on MarinersLose message board.
Good grief.

I think it would be cool, funny, awesome, amazing, perfect, etc. if the Nationals won the World Series without Bryce Harper.
Go Nats!
Go Howie!

Dick Enberg reacted to SlappyUtilityMIF in OC Register: Billy Eppler says Angels are just beginning search for new manager
Finalist will be either Bochy, which I doubt, or Maddon.
They are two of the Best available and have Superior Communication skills and have been known to both be superior cerebral and are really good at in game management and both always seem to be a couple innings ahead of other Managers in their ingame changes. They understand analytics but also understand the game due to longevity within it. They are also tied to 3 LH Starting pitcher FA candidates (Hamels, Quintana, Bumgarner).
I simply say Maddon based on a 30year previous history within the Organization and he managed in the AL with the Rays.
Maddon also enjoys having toolsey players that can play multiple positions. Which is mostly what our roster is formulated with currently on the infield.

Diamondbacks Part Ways With Pitching Coach Mike Butcher
By Jeff Todd | September 30, 2019 at 3:12pm CDT
The Diamondbacks have announced that they will not retain pitching coach Mike Butcher. Ken Rosenthal and Robert Murray of The Athletic first tweeted the news.
Butcher had been in his role since the start of the 2016 campaign, so he pre-dated manager Torey Lovullo and the organization’s primary front office leadership. He has previously served as the pitching coach for the Rays and Angels.
Though he was able to survive the major 2016-17 organizational shakeup, and help a few notable pitchers turn in quality campaigns, Butcher evidently wasn’t seen as the right voice moving forward. His departure isn’t part of a broader wave of change, as the remainder of the 2019 coaching staff is expected to return for 2020.
