ScottT got a reaction from Vegas Halo Fan in Angels, city start lease negotiations
Not sure the Angels' fan base justifies a new stadium. Ticket prices here are so low compared to bigger markets. Minnesota's new stadium is awesome, but their attendance is down a bunch already, because the novelty has worn off a bit and the team isn't doing well. The Angels don't have a huge amount of people that are willing to spend $50 per ticket for midweek games. A new stadium would shift things a bit, but how much and for how long?

Here's what KC did over a year and a half... some of it taking place during the 2008 season. http://kansascity.royals.mlb.com/kc/ballpark/renovation_timeline.jsp

Jim Leyland says all of Cabrera's hits are legitimate. Even the ones on his wife, I guess.

ScottT reacted to AngelsFaninGA in Enright? Really?
Not sure if that does us any good though. We pretty much conceded the game by starting Enright, and now we're wasting our bullpen on top of that.

To be fair, he dealt for two guys that could've helped the staff greatly. Skaggs and Corbin. The guy he dealt, Haren, fell off surprisingly quickly. Granted, he was in a different position when that trade was made, but it is something to consider. Wilson is an enigma. Didn't expect him to do a lot worse leaving Texas for Anaheim. Expected him to bounce back after the injury. Still hoping. I would've preferred to roll the dice with Santana for a year and not settle for Vargas and Blanton, but Santana isn't exactly reliable.
Pujols was all Arte. I wanted Fielder, Kuroda, and Ramon Hernandez. Would've gone 2 for 3... if they would've signed. Fielder got more than I expected.
I was not that excited about Hamilton. Better than standing pat, and arguably better than signing Greinke at the same price. It is a relatively small deal for a recent MVP, but his strikeout rate and chase rate last year were alarming. He ended up with very good numbers last year, but there was a big change. I expect him to bounce back, but he was overrated.
Iannetta was a good move... despite Tyler Chatwood's hitting. Gave up a good young pitcher for Frieri, but the Angels desperately needed a reliever last year and he could've ended up being the difference... still may at some point. Hanson trade was solid.
This team has had some bad luck the last couple years. It's cute that people are angry over moves now, but I don't remember the rage when most of them happened.

ScottT got a reaction from Chuck in If the Yankees can win, why can't we?
The Yankees have been fairly lucky. See Wells, Hafner, Cervelli (luck ran out there), and their run differential. Many people also exaggerated how bad they'd probably be. Still a lot of talent there. They are off to a good start, but I doubt it will continue (I like Kuroda, but he will cool off. Hughes isn't a lock to continue his early performance), even when they get a couple guys back.

Disappointing finish to the NBA season for the Lakers and Clippers. Disappointing start for the Angels and Dodgers. SoCal sports fans need this.

Realistically, though, what do you want DiPoto to do? I mean legitimately possible moves, not pie-in-the-sky wishes.

ScottT got a reaction from AngelsandDodgersFan in Can we re-hire Stoneman?
Dipoto dealt for Skaggs and Corbin.
Hellweg and Pena? Meh. Roach would be somewhat of a point. Angels are not hurting for infielders, so Segura is a moot point. He rolled the dice. If Greinke had gotten off to a better start with the Angels... he finished great... they could've gotten in the playoffs, then who knows.
This team is off to a crappy start because they are off to a crappy start, not because they are a crappy team. The crap Scioscia and Dipoto are getting for it is comical. They will do better.

ScottT reacted to Lifetime in Chris Iannetta Defensive Metrics
Defensive metrics are problematic to begin with. Using them to judge the defensive qualities of a catcher even more so.

I don't know the guy at all.
I know he was 102-71 with the Angels and was the winning pitcher in Game 7 of the World Series. The only World Series title in franchise history.

ScottT got a reaction from AZMike in LA Times: Battle between Angels, StubHub picks up steam
Maybe Angels tickets are drastically overpriced at the box office.
Field MVP tickets are available for tonight for $29.50 on StubHub for tonight's game. The selection and pricing may even get better in the next hour. The Angels hate that guy in 127 who probably only goes to 50 games, but puts up thousands of dollars 6-12 months in advance of games. They don't want him to be able to resell his tickets to at least 2/3 of the games.

ScottT reacted to Brian Ilten in LA Times: Battle between Angels, StubHub picks up steam
Arte hasn't won shit. There is no way the Angels (or any other team/venue/etc) can dictate what I do with a ticket once I purchase it. If I choose to resell it, that is my business not theirs. They have their money. While language might be there on the back of the original ticket that you are only allowed to resell using "XYX Co." there is no way they are going to be able to enforce it without alienating the fan. And if you want to make sure there are butts in the seats, you don't alienate the fan.
Case closed.

ScottT got a reaction from totdprods in Ramon Ortiz is back
It is pretty sick that he is back in MLB. He just turned 40. Allegedly. I liked the guy. Not sure why Angels fans hated on him. He was a mediocre pitcher during his time with the Angels, not a terrible one. He had a pretty good year in 2002.
