gklingel52 reacted to nate in Simmons a trade candidate?
I would be gutted, he is one of my favorite players to watch.

gklingel52 reacted to Chuck in If both games in Mexico are rained out...
Playing games in Mexico is dumb.
I'd rather they go to Bahamas so I could schedule my vacation accordingly.
Isn't Monterey a dump and have shitty air quality? Not to mention the facking cartel running around and chopping heads off.

gklingel52 reacted to Chuck in Brad Ausmus
Hi Eppler, as my technical friends in India would say, kindly do the needful... and fire this chump.
I'm guessing the only reason he passed the written analytical exam to get hired as manager was because he snuck into your office prior to putting his name in the hat for the job and made copies of the answer key.
This guy's bullpen management is atrocious. Harvey at 83 pitches and able to pitch the 7th earlier in the week, now Felix Pena who had less pitches thrown in this contest, only going 5 innings. He did the same thing with Barria the first time we used the opener.
Keeping Garcia out there even though he couldn't find the strikezone, then having Buttrey pitch the 9th when he's already thrown way more pitches than he ever has, when we have another fresh shutdown guy fresh in the open in Robles.. for facks sake.
Another game, another F up by Ausmus.
So Arte or Eppler,

gklingel52 reacted to T.G. in Talk me down or confirm my reality
I think Angel fans have every single stinking right to be angry and feel like there isn't any light at the end of the tunnel. There isn't a single starting pitcher who give us any confidence what-so-ever. Not a single one. Seeing the team give up runs early night after night is just demoralizing. Then watching late inning come backs fall short - adds to the frustration.
Adding to the misery is the fact that Houston is still a very, very good team. Seattle is exceeding expectations and that doesn't help matters either - especially when you just watched your team lose 3 out of 4 (plus the two earlier in the season).
The hole is getting deeper and darker. This sucks. It blows.
I still go to games and will continue to go to games, but it's getting easier and easier to find reasons not to. Baseball is supposed to be fun. This brand of baseball is hard to stomach. I have season tickets... I'd like to get my money's worth out of having them. I feel like I'm wasting my time and my money. I don't like it.
It all adds up. The lousy pitching. The poor hitting. The stupid mistakes in the field by guys like La Stella and Bour. The questionable decisions by Ausmus , etc.
For 19 years - we were used to a certain style of Angels baseball. When it was going good - there was aggressive base running. There was solid fundamental defense. They forced the issue on the bases. They did the most with the talent they had. They frequently out performed projections - or at least I thought they did. This team looks like it's falling into the abyss.
It's on Eppler. It's on Ausmus. It's on Arte Moreno.
Last night's dismal crowd was shocking to see. It was like we were back in the 70's and 80's when people didn't show up and those that did - were there to root for the other team.

I prefer to just enjoy the game I'm watching and not fret over what may or may not happen 5 months from now. If everything comes together and they manage to make the playoffs I get a bonus

gklingel52 reacted to Chuck in Bore, Stella & Cowfart
Look really REALLY bad. Their at bats are weak sauce.
I'm bummed about Bour because I thought he was a good signing. I hope he turns it around soon and starts driving the ball out of the park.
That said, I don't have any faith in La Stella and I'm quickly losing faith that Cozart will ever come close to what he did for the Reds in 2017. So far Epplers outside additions have been awful.
I understand they're all going to stick around until at least May, but if they keep this shit up for another 2-3 weeks we're going to dwelling deep in the cellar.
These guys are impotent at the plate and their defense isn't that great either.
It's bad enough that we don't have Upton and Ohtani and Simmons has looked like crap at the plate as well. Oh and there's Pujols. Ugh

gklingel52 reacted to Angels_Make_Me_Drink in F*ck these Facking losers
Its not 6 games...its disappointment after disappointment. Its being excited for Albert Pujols only to be let down. Its being excited for CJ and Hamilton, only to be let down. Its exciting to make the playoffs with Trout, only to be swept. Its year after year of the rotation falling apart to injury, of potential wasted to Tommy John. Its another patchwork offense filled with journeymen and has beens.
It's frustration.

gklingel52 reacted to Vlad27Trout27 in Moving trout down?
Should Moving trout down to the 3-hole, and either moving Simmons up to the 1/2 hole or Moving Cozart up and hope he gets going, be considered? I know that number suggest that hitting either 1 or 2 is the new trends as hitters get more at bats. But i also believe this is only beneficial when you have a deep line-up or alt east another all-start caliber hitter in the line-up, which at the moment we do not have. Until Upton and Ohtani return, i'd rather have Trout at the 3 hole which gives high chance that either Kole or Simmons/Cozart will be on base for him to at-least drive in! Our two best hitters are Calhoun and Trout at the moment, should keep them closed as purposed;
Simmons/Cozart
Calhoun
Trout
Bour
Pujols
Simmons/Cozart -Could Flip flop Pujols and Simmons if he was down here.
Lucroy
Goodwin
Fletcher

gklingel52 reacted to Second Base in Predict the date of Trout's new extension with the Angels
I'll go with November of 2020. He'll have a frame of reference with Machado, Harper and Arenado extensions, and will have experienced the Angels run through the 2020 playoffs with young stars like Jo Adell, Brandon Marsh, Jahmai Jones and Griffin Canning all playing key parts. Trout wants to win and he will see that the Angels are positioned to win for the next half decade, and by dragging out the extensions negotiations to the point before they break for free agency, his agent will have successfully driven the price up to its optimum point, which makes the 8 year, 350 million dollar extension one that he will accept.
It'll happen during the ten day negotiating period the Angels will have with him before other teams are able to negotiate with him. An 11th hour deal is better than none at all.

gklingel52 reacted to kevinb in Why I'm confident Trout will be extended (but with an opt out)
Dynamics are changing. The reason Machado Trout and Harper are going to get paid very very well are because they are young. If Trout hits free agency at 31 I don't see a team giving him a 10 year contract. I wouldn't want to see the Angels give him a 10 year contract at 31. Teams are going younger and are not giving crazy length contracts to guys who aren't young anymore. No team should want to pay Trout 40 million dollars a year at 38 let alone 41.
Also there is no owner in sports (Maybe Mike Brown) that will give their GM 8 years to build a winner. If the team isn't seriously contending this year or next Eppler will be gone.

gklingel52 reacted to floplag in Why I'm confident Trout will be extended (but with an opt out)
To each thier own but i take little enjoyment watching him hit for the cycle in a 7-5 loss. I also dont think he would either. Its just my opinion.

gklingel52 reacted to Second Base in Why I'm confident Trout will be extended (but with an opt out)
If Moreno wants to maintain a fan base, he better offer the best player in franchise history, the best player in the game, the best player of this generation just beginning his prime, 400 freakin' million dollars.

gklingel52 reacted to Angelsjunky in Why I'm confident Trout will be extended (but with an opt out)
I added a third option, as I think there are many variations possible.
Anyhow, I hear you @UndertheHalo. I just don't think he'll sign a big contract without some kind of opt out. He's earned his right to having some degree of freedom as to where he plays out the rest of his days. He's going to get some kind of opt out, imo.

gklingel52 reacted to UndertheHalo in Why I'm confident Trout will be extended (but with an opt out)
i get your thinking here AJ and obviously there’s appeal for Trout, but I really dislike the idea of giving him an opt out. If the Angels are going to sign him they need to make him an Angel for life. He means more to the organization then a typical FA. I think it’s important that they make sure he wears an Angels cap his entire career and just get this over with. This guy isn’t a 33 year old Albert Pujols. There’s an unquantifiable value in making him our Stan Musial or Tony Gwynn.
