  1. i think there's a very good chance that it's got nothing to do with credibility, but more so a lack of urgency. i think he and they know he's going to be out for awhile with the suspension. if that's the case why rush rehab? there's a very good chance that he's rehabing no differently than any of us would, which is mainly a whole bunch of doing nothing. what's he got to get ready for?
  2. right friggin' there mancini. well done.
  3. i agree it's a smart move for the service time clock, but there's no way you know whether the cubs are a playoff team or not. they have 3 playoff spots available to them.
  4. he was never worth much of a shit anyway, his whip has always been poor.
  5. also, i think i remember the angels are the only expansion team over .500 as an organization. the fact that they have quite a few recent post season accomplishments and a "lombardi" in the case speaks volumes about whether or not the angels are a successful franchise by any measurement on the field.
  6. that makes sense. and you're right, he's not dropping that far. i'd be somewhat surprised if he dropped out of the top ten. shocked if he dropped to 10-15 range. but a drop of 5-10 costs him approximately 2 million, where a drop down to 10-15 costs him 3. if he gets picked in the 2-4 range, then he'll have lost basically nothing other than the year of service time and whatever costs the surgery and rehab had to be paid by them.
  7. where'd you get the fall to the 30th pick? a different article? i said he'l fall a handful of spots, but the difference in bonus will be tremendous. growing up wealthy, may dull the effects of the mistake, but not signing was still a huge economic mistake.
  8. i just read the article. i know we have incomplete information, but i don't see any way that leaving 5 million dollars on the table wasn't a mistake. he had to pay for the surgery since he's unsigned and not going to school. he'll fall in the draft and that alone will cost him millions, even if it's only a handful of spots. he pretty clearly made a mistake.
  9. you must be kidding. do you know who baez and rizzo are? baez was the cubs 2014 #1 prospect, ranked ahead of kris bryant and the rest of the glut of top 100 prospects they have. rizzo had the #1 offensive season by a 1b last year in all of mlb, based on war at 5.6. baez may turn out to be a bust and rizzo may fail to duplicate his success last year, but there is no gm in baseball that would take our 2 over their 2 right now, and definitely not down the road.
  10. here's the facts. every single one of these guys has a bird in the hand opportunity this season. if they fail to take it, then they'll have only themselves to blame. they won't be able to say, "i never got a shot."
  11. live online draft, march 30th at 6pm. free league. if you'll be active and show up for the draft, then send me a pm with your email and i'll send you an invite tonight. we currently have 8 teams. i'd like 10 or 12. i've got some good responses already through pm.
  12. i need two to 4 more players for a league. it's a good league, but we have some openings. i published a thread in sports central forum, but nobody looks there. head to head. live draft on the 30th @ 6 pm. leave me your email for invite. you must be attentive, no flakes please i'd rather it be fans here rather than unknown nobodies. mods maybe leave it here just for a bit? pleeeeeaaaasssssse, with sugar on top.
  13. i don't know where to post this. nobody ever looks on this forum anyway and they'll just move it if i post it in the main forum. i'm looking to fill out a league of guys that are active. there's no money involved, but you're expected to play all the way through. if interested let me know soon, the draft is march 30th at 6 pm pacific. i'll check the pm's here. leave email and i'll send invite. must register quickly, i don't want to leave the league open too close to draft time.
  14. i'm just gonna let weaver be weaver, he's earned it.
  15. i know there's no real substance to this article, but it does have one bit of reality to it, which is that amaro is such a terribly bad gm, that he actually believes other gm's are stupid enough to not only take on his horrific contracts, but also give back full prospect value.
  16. i remember when he 1st came aboard angelswin. he's had health problems for so long. RIP and i wish his family well. chronic illness is very difficult to live with.
  17. there were guys throwing 100 even back then. medicine, mechanics and role play have only served to increase the number who do. your line of thinking is flawed and ill informed.
  18. that seemed like a pretty clear comment on dipoto's thoughts on reagin's drafts. that was bordering on harsh.
  19. i know he was injured quite a bit in football, but if he's healthy i wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he gave minor league ball a try, and as of 2015 that would be with the angels system.
  20. spring training means nothing. absolutely nothing. nada. zippo. zilch. diddly squat. squadoosh. nil. naught. zip. jack-shit.
  21. also, he can't field with his right hand.
  22. hardly. facebook is making your life public fodder. aw is a baseball fan site.
  23. interesting. "f that", always a convincing position. it could be said, pretty accurately so, that hamilton did "own it" by coming forward about his relapse before failing a test. contrary to what many have said, it actually would have been very easy for him to pass a drug test for cocaine. the touchy-feely-whaddaya going to do part is just you and your anger, because really that's not what people are saying when they say it's more than just a guy choosing to use. people who get angry at drug addicts are angry at something else more personal. sometimes it's directed at drug abusers in our own lives who've frustrated us, but mostly it's just anger at the perception that someone has more than us, but it's undeserved or unappreciated by them, that if we had all those opportunities we would value them more. those who get angry, tend to feel that they've been slighted in their own life. my comments are going to offend you intellectually and you'll dismiss them without consideration. the reason why is because, contrary to what you think, you're not "thinking" about the situation. you're "feeling" about the situation.
  24. that's not true. league leaders in rbi's are traditionally out of the 3 or 4 spot. trout was the first to lead the league in rbi's out of the 2 spot. that's impressive, but it also means he should be hitting 3rd because more importantly than plate appearances had are rbi opportunities, and those come from the 3 hole. the game is about runs scored, not plate appearances.
