  1. hire him as an infield instructor and tell him to make grant green an adequate second baseman. after camp, roving infield instructor.
  2. no. they've both retired and are not pursuing any further baseball opportunities, until further notice.
  3. if that's not an automatic all time fail post, then there isn't one. that's a.maz.ing.
  4. while i think the trade is an interesting idea and i do like the idea of freeing some payroll for better additions. i agree that the second portion of your post negates the original suggestion.
  5. i'm not revisiting the bonds subject anymore, but piazza should get in. there's only the softest suggestion that piazza ever used PED's and nothing even remotely resembling actual evidence, at least that i'm aware. that being the case, then he needs to get in because he's the greatest offensive catcher of all time. his much maligned defense wasn't really all that bad, it was just something to harp on about.
  6. if there's a lack of interest in shields, then i'm all for a team friendly contract because he would help our rotation. if there's any kind of bidding war for him, then i'd hope the angels had no interest at all.
  7. in this regard, all stated evidence points to the contrary. he is one of them, even if we would rather hope not.
  8. dipoto and the FO disagree. if he can't find a starting gig, there's a real chance he comes back. dipoto has been very clear about that fact.
  9. drew is definitely not going to accept a util role, but i disagree with beckham. he's very close to that being his role in mlb. the angels like him, and have allowed him to explore his opportunities elsewhere, which in baseball speak means letting him see if he can find a starting gig somewhere. if not, then he's significantly more likely to return to the angels. i believe there is zero interest between the angels and drew/boras from either front.
  10. featherston can't go to the minors. he's a rule 5 pick. he's either on the MLB roster, returned to the rockies, or we "trade" for him in some capacity rather than return him. assuming the rockies wouldn't want him back, which is highly unlikely.
  11. i'm afraid we're all setting ourselves up for disappointment. i really do think he would be the master stroke by dipoto though. completing his major league overhaul and minor league rebuild/restock.
  12. happy new year. i'm wasted. rename the site ukyahwin.com. so let it be written, so let it be done.
  13. personally, i believe this to be mere speculation because we traded kendrick. i've heard this rumor earlier this year, and base it on pure position need speculation by the media. if i had to lay my money on a line. my money goes on the angels have relatively no interest at all. pure media conjecture.
  14. not trying to take away from the fun, but how is moncada an existing part? aren't you invalidating your premise?
  15. plain and simple, i think that's a despicable move and i'm sorry to say i'm an angel fan at this moment. 9 billion dollars a year, players making 35 million dollars a year and they cancel the pensions for the lower paid employees, by contrast. symptomatic of today's corporate landscape. gross.
  16. i'm well aware what his era was last year. i also know what his era was the previous two years. i commend him on his strong second half to get his era into the low 4's. i stand by what i said above.
  17. i'm not at all interested in a return to dan haren. he's toast. the numbers he's putting up any half way decent young pitcher can put up. heaney and trop can sleepwalk through a season and put up a mid 4 era.
  18. the only way featherston spends any time in SLC this year is if the rockies don't want him back from the angels, which is highly unlikely. rule five guys have to stay on the mlb roster if they're not hurt.
  19. i'll take heaney and two of those above over kendrick. no doubt. it's not even about "hating" howie, which is dumb anyway.
  20. i'm with you. trade for tulo, no matter what it costs. even trout.
  21. a definite possibility, but they had to do something. there is almost literally zero fan interest down here for the organization. several ownership groups in a row just decimated fan trust.
  22. i was born in and live in san diego. trust me. if you knew san diego, like i knew san diego, then you'd know what i'm talking about. to be fair, the padres were the talk of the town today. it only took the single most trades i've ever seen a gm make in a span of less than 7 days. padre fans are used to getting coal in their hot stove stockings. they may build a preller statue in "the park at the park" already.
