  1. you watched one game. one game and you defined alcantara's entire career progression? that's idiotic.
  2. i'm hoping we draft paul goldschmidt.
  3. lol. don't get me wrong. i'm not the type of dude to do something stupid like that. i'm just saying, in almost all cases, security checks of this type are an illusion for comfort. mlb (or tsa, whomever) look better for doing it and the fans in general feel like they're being protected.
  4. metal detectors and bag checks aren't stopping anything. if i wanted to i could get a handgun into the big A easy. as an exercise, i snuck into the big A last year during the playoffs. i had my two tickets in my pocket.
  5. he was a big part of that kansas city pipeline that eventually lived up to the promise, but he just couldn't put it together there. you've got to be happy both for him and the angels.
  6. he's had way too much success in mlb for that to be true. his time has probably passed, but baseball is littered with guys who've had a resurgence.
  7. sports fans are weird. they watch the game daily, but gather so little information from it. it'd be like a person following chess, but never learning the nuances of the game. there is 200 years of recorded history in baseball of slumps varying in size from a single game to an entire season. iannetta and joyce are good players, they had pronounced slumps, at some point the skills will erode and it's the FO job to be able to determine a slump from erosion. the idea that a player is only as good as his current results is shortsighted and, frankly, elementary. i like this site when it elevates the conversation and loathe it when it lowers it. that may just be the way it is, but i don't have to like it.
  8. ernesto is a really nice guy, but sports are a fickle mistress. he made the big leagues out of a country that has no history of producing major leaguers. he's a success no matter how he goes out.
  9. there is more of a history of them being good, rather than bad.
  10. down the tunes is going to be around here longer than hardcore, i'll guarantee you that.
  11. fans really need to stop thinking in these terms. the truth is, and you will hear this from players of every team sport, that every year is an individual year. they are not groupings. fans and sportswriters are aware of this intuitively, they call it chemistry, but they get it wrong. it's not about whether guys like eachother or not. it's the idea of complimentary parts making the whole function. that "chemistry" is very difficult to quantify, but it's plain as day on the field. right now the angels don't have the right chemistry, if dipoto makes a few shrewd moves it can alter the entire dynamic as a whole.
  12. what if he had left him in and weaver gave up the 3 runs? this would be a thread about how weaver was tired, has a history of fatiguing at this exact point in the game, and why didn't he bring in the fresh reliever.
  13. i'm talking about howard. revere is whatever, has some use. howard is garbage. IP is on point.
  14. inside pitch is owning this thread. i'd let him be the gm, at least for a day. if i were in my 20's i'd say he was pwning it, but it makes me feel weird because i'm almost 42.
  15. awww, you remembered. i blushed a little. basically, if anything i do or may do is wrong, then i don't want to be right, is what i'm saying.
  16. listen, if taking a picture of your nut suck is wrong, then i don't want to be right.
  17. i'm with inside pitch on this one. you guys are giving in to desperation. howard is untradeable. revere is whatever, if you give up little to get him.
  18. revere may help the angels by moving calhoun and trout into more rbi opportunities. howard will certainly not help the angels.
