  1. i, respectfully, have to strongly disagree. it's fans that have to "win" the deal. good gm's are considering many more factors than on the field play, and certainly are not thinking about their public perception.
  2. it would be better, if we could just move past the josh hamilton era, and stop taking the bait on every hamilton article. think of him as an exboyfriend/girlfriend, if you keep tabs on him on facebook, then you're the loser.
  3. it is better to be silent and thought a douchebag, than to start a thread and remove all doubt.
  4. no it won't. it will benefit the cable providers and the networks because they'll be able to show 162 games a year without any restrictions, if they so choose. that will benefit foxsports tremendously as they have made concerted pushes to become local providers for many teams. i don't see how having the option of showing more games hurts them. same thing with the cable providers. it hurts mlb because they lose some exclusivity with some platforms, but the real issue is that mlb is archaic in thinking and glacially slow in process. they think that people will stop going to games if they can watch it on tv, which has been proven false several times over. mlb needs younger people calling the shots. it's happened on the team level, in regards to coaches, gm's and team presidents, but now it needs to happen all the way at the top at the mlb level.
  5. personally i don't understand the "average" fielder sentiment, but i don't put much stock in the defensive metrics, admittedly.
  6. if he goes anywhere, the mets and orioles would be two terrific fits.
  7. "barry bonds would have played for the league minimum". that's probably the biggest lie i've ever heard come out of his or his camps mouth, and he's told some doozies.
  8. i'd actually like there to be stripper poles at all of the bases, except home of course because that could be dangerous. i'd also like the uniforms to be individualized, then on their way to bat, they could be interviewed about who they're wearing. shit like that, bring it home for the millenials.
  9. scout them and pick the BPA. it all comes down to diligence and luck.
  10. i'm not gonna beat you up strad, but this isn't a conclusion it's an emotional response. read your own post and tell me if you can honestly say in hindsight that you were speaking with your intellect and not your emotions in this post. personally, i think i already know the answer.
  11. so now dipoto is shit again because the team is playing badly? last year 98 wins, this offseason he was a wizard on this board for getting the arms he got in heany, tropeano for conger, but now half the team can't hit .100 and dipoto sucks? i wasn't a big fan of this year's roster in spring training, we're old in some bad spots, thin in others and up against the salary cap. all of that is true, but they can't just make it all disappear. i feel that the angels need to spend their way out of the hole they dug for years, but they have a reality that i'm not a part of and they are one of the highest spending teams in mlb. so, it's hard to beat them up too much. the pitching staff is worse and that's a fact, but this offense scored the most runs in mlb last year. not scoring runs is purely on the players' backs right now and not dipoto and barely on scioscia really.
  12. if the angels get a blue jersey like every other crap team in this league, i'm going to do something rash.
  13. echoing others' sentiments, i never understood the signing in the first place.
  14. i'm not understanding how your comment could be misinterpreted. you clearly thought he was referencing the devil rays.
  15. i'm generally agreeing with you, except for the part about hamilton. that was easily predictable, and i think many many people actually did predict that it would end in flames.
  16. humberto quintero sighting. i remember him with san diego and the astros.
  17. anybody remember brian lawrence? that's where weaver is at now, but with a history of greatness that never applied to lawrence.
  18. if he's not able to make an adjustment or find some mph, then i wouldn't be surprised in the least to see him retire and come back to the angels in the FO, after a year most likely. he's proven that money is not his motivating factor.
  19. you just simply don't get it. arod was taking steroids as an amateur in high school. you've never seen him not on steroids, ever. your opinion on this is so poorly orchestrated it makes the conversation not worth having.
  20. i know everyone's down on bill cosby, but he has a great bit on when he was a ball player and he faced his first collegiate curveball. i was going to link the bit, but it's all rape jokes on bill cosby google time.
  21. at which i ruled, only to be unceremoniously toppled in the championship game.
  22. that's why i started off the way i did. the problem is when they put it out there for public consumption. once i read it, i can't help but be affected by it. tell me that some of the stuff torii has said didn't affect the way you thought of him, at least in some regard.
