  1. here's a vote for elevating the conversation rather than dragging it down.
  2. oh for ****s sake. the diamondbacks are a horrible franchise. get real people.
  3. it's kinda weird how there are people, on this message board in particular, jumping all over moreno's ass for this. are they not allowed to trade a bad player now? hamilton has been a let down in every way for the angels, why can't they be done with him personally and professionally. keep in mind i'm one of the leading "addiction is a disease" people on this board. i just know that accountability and consequences are two words that every recovering addict is intimately familiar with.
  4. heyward is far from an impact bat. he's a mediocre hitter, with a good glove. i bought into the hype when he first came up, but his numbers never really impress.
  5. trolling at it's finest. well done.
  6. wasting your breath jeff. we're in season, the shit must hit the fan or we don't know what to do with ourselves. the offseason is when cooler heads prevail. mostly. sometimes.
  7. what a piece of crap thing to say. i went through it, with a kid, trust me it definitely is the end of the world. the difference is eventually you realize there is a new world for you and them.
  8. personally, i'm not in love with our starting pitching. i'm less in love with our swing for the fences approach. those are the things that may hinder the angels, it sure won't be because they lost one 5 game series against the royals last year. the only player who really showed up in that series was david freese and i don't think that's who you were suggesting was the "one" guy approach. the angels fell flat on their faces last year in that series.
  9. putting aside angel talk briefly, but how brutal of a beginning has it been for the giants? they started off a nice 3-1, but have followed that up with an 8 game losing streak and counting. good thing those fans have the world series championship to dry their tears.
  10. not even close. the only bad team in the bunch is texas. this division is going to beat up on itself a lot, and that's going to keep all of them from the win totals that we might see in other divisions, but that reflects a direct counterpoint to your assertion rather than a confirmation. having said that the angels won the most games in baseball last year, but last year is last year.
  11. i do. they've made several comments that smell of detachment.
  12. food trucks at the stadium? what is this, portland?
  13. if i was rucinski, i'd build a house on shoemaker's shoulder. shoemaker is everything rucinski was and everything he'd like to be.
  14. i honestly don't know rucinski, so if the angels have to chop his head off early, well that's the way it goes.
  15. i'm not defending the contract, but that's not how mlb contracts work, and was never gonna happen on any team. if the conversation is going to be had, have the conversation that could actually happen. the angels f'ed up and signed a high risk player to a high risk AAV and a high risk term contract. that's a lot of risk to spread all over that bad boy.
  16. i don't give a squirt about the padres, but i love how the padres are a "wild card team at best." what are the angels? the padres have improved their team tremendously and are fielding a better than average mlb team. that gives them as good and realistic a chance as any other contender.
  17. anybody who thinks that "disease" and "not responsible for his actions" means the same thing is either willfully ignorant or just ignorant. edit: go to a treatment facility or an NA, something like that, and see how much those people are struggling with not using. then realize that those are the people that actively don't want to use. it's a daily affirmation for them. it's not just a one time, i'm not going to use ever again. it's, i'm not going to use today. it's not called a disease because it's like cancer, but rather because they have to manage the symptoms every day. having said all of that, responsibility is key to recovery, and what happened today was not in hamilton's best interests.
  18. i am one who knows that drug addiction is a disease. this sends a horrible message. consequences for your actions is one of the basic tenants of recovery, not to mention adult living.
  19. oh snap, son! check out the big brain on brad. my .02, what primarily drove me away from espn was slow load times, automatic video play, pay articles and singularity of topic issues. the new website seems to have fixed the load time and automatic video play issues, both of which i actually resent, and i'm sure the former was connected to the latter. i don't expect them to go away from their pay model or their focus on manufactured stories, why would they?
