Barrett got a reaction from krAbs in Seattle considering full rebuild...
Man I love hot stove season almost more than the regular season.

Barrett got a reaction from GrittyVeterans in Angels hire Doug White for Pitching Coach
To like this move or not like this move is kind of silly. Of course a new manager will want all new people or at least get to pick who is on his staff. Hopefully it works out.

Barrett reacted to Stradling in Angels hire Doug White for Pitching Coach
Do people really blame a pitching coach for pitching injuries like UCL damage?

Barrett reacted to Docwaukee in Brad Ausmus Named Angels Skip
mentioned this earlier in the thread. it has absolutely been discussed. the plan is already set. We don't know what it is yet, but it's out there. My guess is that we're not going to like it.

By the way, does anyone actually believe that Ausmus has the final say on whether Pujols plays a lot or not this season?

there's nothing curios about it at all. you're just obtuse.
they had a hiring process. they interviewed all the candidates they were interested in and they made a choice.

So awesome we (Potentially=Might be) competing within a year or two.

Barrett reacted to hangin n wangin in Astros whine about not being in prime time
Sounds like a clubhouse problem. They should trade him to us to avoid distraction. We will give them Pujols, who got knee surgery and will be in the best shape of his life. Get it done Eppy.

Barrett got a reaction from Cdaniel in The official (slightly early) off season discussion thread. Let's hear your plan.
Can people stop using the word douchey. Just because you don't like the guy from afar doesn't mean they are douchey. No one here other than I imagine Fletcher has probably met Harper. And I am guessing even he, while covering the Angels, doesn't know him that well. It is the most over played word here.

Barrett got a reaction from Ace-Of-Diamonds in Spending this off-season
I have a feeling which kind of sickens me but my feeling is that the Angels will go with Ward at 3rd Cozart at 2nd with Fletcher rotating both those positions. Pujols is a mainstay at 1st because well reasons. I think they don't sign a starting pitcher and sign or trade for a catcher, pay for a closer and that's it. I really have no optimism for this off season. I also don't see Trout signing an extension and see him waiting for free agency. He is close enough to it he might as well see what it is about. At least that's what I would do if I were him.
What I would love for them to do is sign Donaldson on one year deal with option or 2 year deal with option. Trade Cozart and let some team eat his salary. Put Fletcher at 2nd. Trade Calhoun and replace with something cheap as in a 1 year deal. Trade for a catcher. Sign a starting pitcher. and sign/trade for a closer. Oh and cut Pujols and play anyone at 1st for league minimum or 1 year deal.

Barrett reacted to Angelsjunky in Angels compete by what year?
I imagine that Eppler wants to compete for the division in 2019 but also understands that realistically it is more likely going to be somewhere in the 2020-22 window when the Angels have the roster to compete with Houston.
But given how fickle the game is, if you’re Eppler you’re still planning on competing in 2019, but winning the division would be opportunistic and catching lightning in a bottle.
That said, we have to start scratching our collective heads at Eppler if we’re not in the wildcard hunt next September 1. He should be able to construct a roster that wins 85+ games.

Barrett reacted to Jeff Fletcher in OC Register: A’s have done what Angels have not: overcome a rotation ravaged by injuries
The other thing to remember is that improving your starting pitching and lineup also improves your bullpen.
If you need 6 outs a night from the bullpen instead of 9-10, you can match up better and use who you want and not just who is fresh.
Also, if you have a 5-run lead more often, you can rest all of your high leverage guys. Good everyday players can also contribute to run prevention if they happen to be good defensively too.
Your resources should go to, in this order...
1. Everyday players
2. Starting pitchers
3. Relievers

Barrett got a reaction from GrittyVeterans in Should the Angels allow Trout...
For those who say no I am curious why not? I get that people don't see Trout as the person who would ask for that kind of responsibility. But that's not the question. The question is would you give Trout the ability to give his input into free agency.

I can see the Dodgers signing Mike as their manager next season.

Next year they're lowering the yellow line on the RF fence so that it's level with the ground. Every ball hit off the RF wall will be a HR.

I don't want to speak for Fletcher but from my understanding is he had a convo with someone in the organization and he said something about a higher number that they had to spend and the guy basically laughed at Fletcher. Told him 30 million is cap.

But he will be in the best physical condition of his life in spring training. My dads 70 and moves better than Pujols.
