  1. Why would a team not want a guy with a WS title under his belt and another WS appearance over a guy who's done absolutely nothing as a manager.... Seems pretty self explanatory. If you can get a better manager, position player or pitcher you do it. Simple as that.
  2. No results will make it easier for his family, teammates or fans. Just a real bummer that he lost his life. 27 years old is way too young to die. Just an awful situation any way you slice it.
  3. So early guys. All they need is a day off to regroup and be ready to pounce. This team has future World Series Champ written all over it. Some of you see it already. The rest will see when they go on a tear starting Thursday winning 21 of their next 22 games. It's a lock
  4. This off season is hot garbage. Players association better be ready for a fight when the collective bargaining agreement comes to an end in December of 21.
  5. We wont sign him but we will be one of the finalists.
  6. Are we maintaining the 6 man rotation from last or are we going back to having a 5 man rotation?
  7. The other big thing is both these starters are young. Much better than signing 30 plus year old pitchers.
  8. Why? If players can do endorsement deals why can't owners and stadiums?
  9. Another high risk signing. If it doesn't work out just release him. It would only be a one year deal anyways. What's the harm in signing him?
  10. What a steal by Eppler. Another gold star on his resume. Now let's get some cheap starting pitching and a cheap catcher and we are good to go.
  11. You are kidding right? You want to be paying a 36 year old catcher 15 million dollars a year? Please tell me you are joking.
  12. You would go 5 years for a 31 year old catcher? ......
  13. Only way I'd go 2 is if the 2nd was a team option.
  14. Where is there any evidence or rumors that Kershaw would be traded? Didn't he just sign an extension?
  15. Shit happens. If you are going for just winning a wild card I don't think any team should be opening the season just hoping for a wild card spot. I think that's foolish. You are either good enough to win the division or you just aren't there yet. Injuries happen plenty, teams are either better than or worse than they expected once the season starts. But I don't think you can go into a season hoping for a wild card. There are too many variables that way. But if you think you have a team to compete for the division title and fall short then that's different than not having the horses to compete for that title.
  16. Being mediocre doesn't get you a wild card spot. I understand going for it I understand holding back. But just settling for mediocrity does nothing for me personally or in my sports teams. I've said it before but I would rather finish last in the division than 3rd. I don't see the point in finishing 3rd.
  17. Ya. Let someone else go more years on a catcher over the age of 30. I don't know much about Kikuchi but young good pitching on this team can never hurt.
  18. Wilson Ramos is a 31 year old catcher. The most you give him is a year and maybe an option for a 2nd. No way do you give this guy more than that. Catchers don't age well.
  19. I agree. It looks like Dipoto is trying to gut the MLB Roster and build for the future. I like the approach. I would much rather be terrible for 2-4 years and then good for a while after then mediocre. Being mediocre to me is worse than being terrible.
  20. @Inside Pitch I guess my thinking on not adding is kind of my thinking for the Angels in general. I don't see any positive to finishing the year 500. I don't believe in a carry over effect I don't believe in momentum. I think both are myths. I would rather the Angels be worse now and better in the future than be mediocre now and who knows about the future. Saving the money now then spending up to their cap just to finish 20 games below the Astros was kind of annoying to watch. I guess I don't see the point in having an Upton type if by the time the Angels are actually competing for division titles he will be past his prime and in his later 30's. But maybe that's me.
  21. The same argument about the Astros getting older could be said about the Angels as well. Simmons will be 30 this upcoming year. Upton will be 32 this year. Pujols is a year older etc. If by waiting for the prospects to get here in 2020 or later the core of Simmons Upton and Trout will be well in their 30s and the decline will start. Most prospects amount to not much, There are thousands of prospects across all the minor leagues most don't turn into stars, some do. To think that out of 15 of the prospects coming up in the next 3 years some will be stars I think is greatly exaggerated maybe one will be a star maybe a couple will be good the rest will be either mediocre or will flame out. To think about it this way since Trout has gotten here who is the best player in the league what other players that have come up through our system have been stars that are on our team currently? Is Kole Calhoun really a star? Tyler Skaggs? I really want the Angels to be good. I understand the argument on not spending idiotically on free agents, it's usually a bad idea. Unless some "major" upgrades happen this off season I just don't know how the Angels win the division next year, and just hoping to compete for a wild card is absolutely settling. I would rather the Angels just sit tight with what they have now and let the kids play and keep building up the farm. My ideal situation would be to trade off assets that won't help us when the farm gets here but I don't see the Angels doing that either.
  22. He can predict anything. I am saying to predict something and lay something on the line if you are wrong. Like AO does when he self bans himself for a week etc.
