I haven’t been this disappointed since we missed on Heyward a couple years ago. 

No they just received a gigantic leap forward from Berrios, Odorizzi and Pineda and had breakout stars on offense, had Miguel Sano finally make good on all that stupid potential, and had the Indians pitching staff fall apart and no other competition in the division.
So now the Angels just need to convince the A's to suck, infect the Astros rotation with the Ebola virus and inject every swinging dick on the team with enough anabolic steroids to impregnate a lion and we'll be good to go.
Shit.... That felt good.

i believe all of you who are going off the deep end have forgotten, it is darkest before dawn. i think a lot of good things are going to happen for the angels in the next very short while, and i think the team will be better off for it.
i don't give a shit about cole, strassburg, madbum, rendon, or any other FA individually. i do believe that if the angels use their money on numerous key acquisitions that this team will win more games than they would have with only cole. 
it's ok if you guys need to lose your shit because you had an idea in your head that you wanted, but when you're done just remember there are many very good players out there that we can get to get this team to where they need to be.
 

Hard to catch up with this thread, but from a few pages back...bids aren't static, guys. It isn't like Eppler would have definitely got us Cole if he offered 9/$325M. If the Angels upped their top bid to, say, 9/$333M, maybe the Yankees go 9/$342, or even 10/$360M.
When does it end? Eppler probably got a top amount from Moreno, and the Yanks just went higher...and probably would have kept going.
So while I'm disappointed, the ridiculously risky contract makes Cole's loss more palatable.
