Expect a big trade soon

Eppler hasn’t been shy lately talking about our trade capital. I suspect Marsh will be packaged  in a trade for a immediate impact player. One would believe it will be a SP. I have zero clue who that player might be. 

Any thoughts on who it could be if? Possibly a position player? or I could be totally off base and maybe just be a small trade with upside possibilities.

How well do we actually match up with the Mets?  Im not looking at Degrom, im looking at Stroman on the last year of his deal.   Doubtful of course since they are also losing Wheeler but it would seem more realistic and affordable.

Speaking about the Orioles, what about Chris Davis' teammate John Means?
Second in ROY voting. He had a very good year especially pitching in home run happy Camden and the AL East. The O's are deep in rebuild mode so they might consider a package centered around Marsh.

I think the Mets acquired Stroman as insurance if they dealt or lost Wheeler. If they re-sign him, which is apparently possible still, then Stroman might be more available. His projected arb salary of nearly $12m makes it a little trickier to - giving up prospects for a rental, a rental who eats up a lot of the available money this coming year at that, isn’t ideal. Not impossible, but lots of factors making it more unappealing that other routes.

Jon Gray very much fits with what Eppler prefers. High octane, prospect pedigree, and Eppler drafted him with he was AGM with the Yankees.

The Rockies won't be competing next year and are looking at a reload pretty soon. They have the bats they need, and even more in the way. But they're completely devoid of pitching in that system.

I think if the Angels offered a pitching-centric package like Jaime Barria, Pat Sandoval, Hector Yan and Kyle Bradish, that could be something the Rockies are interested in. It provides them with two MLB ready starters, another that will be ready in a year and a half and another that will be ready in two years. It provides that states with a wave of pitching depth they simply don't have.

And for the Angels, Jon Gray has top of the rotation stuff. Getting him out of Coors Field and he may start resembling Gerrit Cole.

Only two seasons of control.

3.46 ERA at Coors last season, 4.22 on the road, fwiw.

If he costs Marsh, I think I'm out. If you can get him for what you outlined, I pull the trigger.

Please help me understand how trading away two MLB ready starters and another ready in a year in half for a single pitcher is a good long term move?

That seems like a tremendous amount of pitching to give up for two years...I like Gray, but I think I'd rather substitute Rengifo, Thaiss, or Adams somewhere in there in place of Sandoval or Yan.

Yeah i kinda agree.  Trading one for an upgrade with another part not pitching involved, i could see, but not two.  Unless its for a Cy Young candidate then maybe but you still need to sign another arm on top of the 2 at that point so, doubtful.

No chance we give up 4 arms and probably not 3 arms unless we were getting a guy with 4-5 years of control.

I'd be open to substituting a bat, but not Thaiss, Rengifo or Adams. Thaiss has just developed the power necessary to succeed. He's only going to get better. Rengifo is also going to improve. He has more speed than he showed, and his plate discipline will come into play more. And Adams.... For me he's off limits.
