stormngt reacted to Catwhoshatinthehat in Angels and Dodgers have "casual conversation" about Kendrick
His team friendly contract is one of the major selling points and short of trading Trout or Weaver trading Howie is the best way to acquire a young SP.

stormngt reacted to Scott34 in Angels and Dodgers have "casual conversation" about Kendrick
I NEVER understood the whole "don't trade to certain teams" mantra. If you get a good deal, DO IT!

stormngt reacted to wopphil in Now is the time to relieve Scioscia of his duties
What did Scioscia do wrong last night? His team took a lead into the 9th inning. He put in his "best" reliever to save the game. His "best" reliever choked, again. How is that his fault? Maybe Jerry should have given him some better pen arms.

stormngt got a reaction from rafibomb in OK What idiot on this board said this year's bullpen was light years better than last years?
Since only a couple mentioned it.....I was referring to myself as the "idiot" that thought this years bullpen was light years better.

stormngt reacted to Chuck in Tonight's debacle
First off. Up yours, Frieri.
His performance tonight was a microcosm of the past four seasons for the Angels. So much hype and expectations followed by shit in the end.
Trade them all (except Trout and Weaver).

Lol, I think that's what he was referring to tbh

Who was it? Stand up and be a man!

stormngt got a reaction from eaterfan in How many feel the Angels should give up on 2014?
I say this because many argue that we should trade Aybar and or Kendrick. We really don't have an adequate replacement for either for next year. Yes we could probably get a decent load of prospects for them if we traded them, but without an adequate replacement at 2b or SS wouldn't we have to give up on 2014 as well? Some may say we should. Some say this team is a good few years away from being a playoff team. If that is so maybe we should trade them. However, If you feel Hamilton can return to at least near all star play (he used to be one of the best) and if Pujols can be a consistent 280 30 HR player (something even a declining Pujols can be) that this team can be a playoff team next year. Then it would be unwise to trade Kendrick or Aybar.
The real question is just how long of our rebuilding needs to take.

I can't wait to have one of our players be bad and then have the internet told you so , so then someone can rip on the internet told you so for being a failo and wanting one of our players to do poorly

stormngt reacted to SmallSampleSize in Downs traded to Braves for RHP Cory Rasmus
I agree.
If there wasn't sufficient data to demonstrate what the likely performance is of said player with 6 years of control.
In a vacuum, of course you're right.
Also, the real point isn't what we could or couldn't have got for Downs on his own vs. Downs packaged with someone...but more so that a player like Rasmus could be had later if that was so integral to us getting better.
I'd have liked to have seen more of a move to show the thought leadership behind where this team is heading...
Color me not impressed. Not quite hating but not impressed to be sure.

stormngt got a reaction from Vladdylonglegs in Downs traded to Braves for RHP Cory Rasmus
I don't think anyone can fairly say if this is a bad move or not. Downs was a FA. He isn't helping us this year. If we really need him we can always resign him in the fall. Rasmus numbers do not seem to be that bad and until we see him perform we really can't call this a bad move.
Those who do are just hate mongering.

stormngt reacted to Blarg in Downs traded to Braves for RHP Cory Rasmus
Oh yeah, holding on to Downs really helps the team. Dipoto never should have trade him.

stormngt got a reaction from Vegas Halo Fan in Why dont we have a premier catcher?
First of all, how many premier catchers are there in major league baseball?
Second, the Angels had a catcher that Scioscia felt could "transcend all of his years of baseball knowledge and experience." His name was Mathis!
-
stormngt reacted to nate in Why dont we have a premier catcher?
Bengie was definitely premier. 270+ BA clutch hitting and excellent behind the plate.
Letting Bengie sign with the Blue Jays for 2 years 3 million was a huge mistake. It lead to Mathis and Jose Molina. Aside from part time Napoli we haven't had a catcher that could hit since.

stormngt reacted to Angel_Fan_4_Life in MLB Throws the hammer down on Braun and others
Here is how you take care of steriod use in the bigs....once a player tests positive, for each game that was won in which the cheater had participated in the during the season since his last "clean" pee test should be changed in the division standings as a LOSS.
Talk about impacting the game of baseball and giving the extremely high priced players, who use HGH, a reality check. Not to mention, the verbal "blanket party" his teammates will give him.
They need something much bigger than a 50 game suspension.

Gotta give up to the guy though
He played until he simply couldn't anymore
Hope he gets well & is ready for Opening Day 2014

stormngt got a reaction from halomatt in Should Scioscia be retained at the end of the season?
Who are these pitchers that vastly improved after leaving Scioscia?
I know Rodney. Who else? If I am not mistaken, the Angels under most of Scioscia's tenure has had great pitching (the last 12 months as an exception).
So who are these pitchers? Or are you just making things up?
-
stormngt reacted to Blarg in The Rays are 4-9
The Rays have a far superior pitching staff than the Angels so for that reason underperforming is unacceptable and the sole responsibility of Joe Maddon.
He should be fired, after all they failed to make the playoffs last season and can't afford to continue losing like this. I am sure we are all in agreement.

stormngt got a reaction from Vegas Halo Fan in Angels Official Website: Angels' late rally in Oakland comes up short
"When Weaver, Wilson and Vargas take the mound this season, the Angels are 28-20 (a .583 winning percentage)."
This explains the season right there. And it shouldn't be a surprise. Hanson, Blanton, Williams, and Richards just aren't good right now. Williams at times is solid. Richard might be good someday. However, this team isn't under achieving. This team just has poor starting pitching 3-5

stormngt reacted to DHinton in Am I the only one who just hates looking at Colon?
Every time I look at Colon I just hate watching him pitch because it is so obvious hes cheating this year. When is Selig gonna man up and suspend him?
-
stormngt reacted to Second Base in Trumbo and Downs on the block
I'll have to call BS on this. I mean first of all, what does Trumbo have a roommate for when he's at home? It isn't like the man is hurting for money in his current profession. But that's really beside the fact.
A General Manager does not approach a player in Trumbo's situation (younger, under contract) just to tell him he's on the block. That's stupid. That's not the way it works at all. In Downs case, sometimes a GM will do that, SOMETIMES. But in Trumbo's case, that's not only unheard of but also bad policy.
No way this is remotely ac curate, even if he is on the market.
-
stormngt got a reaction from Ohtaniland in The future of Trout
that is why we shouldn't expect a discount. That is why I have been advocating giving him a contract he can't refuse. He is an angel for four more years minimum. No other team can talk to him durin that time. That is why we have the advantage. We just have to pony up and pay the man his money!
