Meh. The run differential is inflated because of a handful of lopsided wins (9-1, 11-1, 14-2, 13-1), just like the Rangers's differential is deflated because of a few lopsided losses. The record in one-run games is due to a shaky bullpen and a lack of timely hitting (we've griped for years about how this team mails it in in the later innings). Good teams win one-run games, bad teams don't. It's telling that if you look at the standing last year the good teams (with the lone exception of Detroit) were over .500 in one-run games, while the bad teams were under .500.

He's worse than Wells. Wells could at least be counted on to hit .200 and get an occasional meaningless homer. Freese can't even do that much.

Yeah because 5.1 innings is more tha enough of a sample size to call up a 33-year-old reliever with terrible career peripherals.

Absurd call. That's like overturning a touchdown because a player didn't hand the ball cleanly to the referee afterwards. 

The first? What about the other 4 games where we scored 4 or fewer runs? Granted, the pitching in those games was awful as well, but that doesn't absolve the offense. 

If he had 16 more hits last year, he would have hit .300.

Point is, he doesn't have more hits this year, and he didn't have those hits then--even if you're assuming that a .300 BA is symbolic of something good, in and of itself.

It's also inevitable that Trumbo will go into an extended slump pretty soon.
