He has managed to take a farm that was last in baseball to probably somewhere closer to the middle third, while sacrificing only one year of a good second baseman and a backup catcher.
He has acquired a whopping 22 club controlled seasons worth of what appears to be major league competent starting pitching (Skaggs, Santiago, Tropeano and Heaney) for three years worth of a one-dimensional DH and one year of said good second baseman.
He has done an outstanding job. I believe he has taken this team to the point where it is just one or two more young impact players away (Moncado!) from being set up for the long term as well as or better than any team in baseball (including everyone's golden-child organization, the Cardinals). And that is shocking considering that a year ago we were on the fast track to becoming the Phillies or Mets.

But thank god for that "living" minimum wage you have up there. It makes everything so much more affordable for those on the bottom (rolls eyes).

Arte is the single best thing that has ever happened to the Angels organization, IMO.

Cowart and Green have no business being in the top 10. There are much better prospects in our system.
Green has upside but you can have that all day long but if you can't get on the field, put in a full season of ball and stay healthy...

What an offseason by Dipoto. He's done more than enough to warrant an extension

Sucks to lose Sanchez, but at 17 he had a long, long way to go.

This is what I love about Dipoto. I get the impression he spends every waking moment of his life trying to improve the Angels, in the short term and the long term. And I get the impression he is never satisfied with "good enough."
I never felt that way about Reagins, who seemingly did very little in the job.

I agree. At this point, I think trading Newcombe or Heaney would be, under just about any reasonable circumstance, a big step backwards. It might fill a hole, but at the expense of creating a new one.

I'm not Vegas, but the most recent that comes to mind was the American Airlines crash in New York back in 2001.  Not 9/11 but a few months later, where the plane crashed into a neighborhood.

The NTSB blamed the pilot for rudder use that caused the vertical stabilizer to fall off.

I have a wife who works hard....raising our three young kids. She hasn't had an income in five years.
I have kind of resigned myself to having no extra money my entire life.

To be fair, his isolated slugging, to this point in his minor league career, is just barely lower than that of another shortstop who shall remain nameless (but who is known for gift baskets and oil paintings).Just sayin.
