This is a bit surprising - I could have sworn I saw someone posting about how he looked like he had lost a ton of weight heading into spring. I guess maybe "a lot of weight" - "a lot of weight" = "a still heavy dude".

Am I reading the same thing? It says Arte pulled the deal after getting impatient. It may have been able to be revived, but LA saw it as unnecessary at that point.

You guys put way too much weight into the nerd algorithms projections.  Who gives a shit what then fangraphs baseball computer spits out.  
 
the Red Sox aren’t even trying to win this season.  They play in a division with the Rays and Yankees (also...Baltimore to be fair - anyway) I don’t care what fangraphs says.  I like our team better then theirs. 

Pederson is much better than Goodwin.
Pederson, Stripling and Pages for Rengifo is highway robbery.
But that isn't the trade. We don't know the trade.
 

Pederson crushes righties and Goodwin is better against lefties. This is a good platoon for RF. Defensively, Pederson is a superior defender.

First off, there will be a lot of people on here saying something to the effect of "whew, dodged THAT bullet!"

All I know is that the starting rotation has a lot less question marks today than last year.
Teheran/Bundy/Stripling will provide much needed consistency to go with a power packed lineup. If Canning and Ohtani can hold their own its going to be fun to watch.

Will wait to see the trade unfold, but earlier in the offseason, I was hoping we'd look into acquiring Stripling.  2 years of control left, low cost, and was a 2018 All-Star.  Maybe he'll never rediscover his first half 2018 form, but he's, at worst, a really solid #4 starter, probably a pretty decent #3.  
Right now, this is the lineup I'd roll with:
vs RHP:  LaStella 1B, Trout CF, Ohtani DH, Rendon 3B, Pederson RF, Upton LF, Castro C, Simmons SS, Fletcher 2B
vs LHP:  Fletcher 2B, Trout CF, Rendon 3B, Ohtani DH, Upton LF, Pujols 1B, Simmons SS, Pederson (or Goodwin) RF, Castro C
Rotation:  Ohtani, Heaney, Stripling, Bundy, Teheran, Canning
Really solid.  We did not get an ace, but we certainly significantly improved our rotation on the whole.  Fangraphs has us projected as a playoff team now, with the moves we have made, and that's not even including our "mystery" pitcher acquisition.

This trade just got really interesting. If the prospect isn't Adell or Marsh we made out like bandits here. 

Pederson, Stripling and a prospect for Rengifo and a prospect?  that kinda sounds too good to be true doesn't it?
