The Angels are already fucked financially. Signing him would be a disaster. The quicker they blow it up and start over, the more likely they'll be able to contend in the next decade. Unfortunately, they won't sign him and then commit stupid money to others this year and/or next.

I have expected him to sign elsewhere since at least July, so I'm prepared for that. Dodgers really do make the most sense if he wants to stay in the same area from a comfort standpoint while getting to play for a perennial contender, but I'll continue to hold out hope he ends up signing elsewhere. Let it be the Jays or Giants, that's all I ask

Typically, when the Angels acquire a player that looks like garbage on paper, I think to myself "Self, these guys are professionals and know something you don't".
I cannot think of a time where I had that thought and the player actually became a productive contributor to the MLB team.
Doesn't work that way when I do like a signing/trade though, they usually end up sucking too.
So therefore, I deduce, my baseball evaluation skills are garbage.
The guys getting paid by the Angels to make these decisions aren't doing all that much better however.
Such is the existence of a post-2010 Angels fan.

my 6th and 7th graders this year are an academic mess. work is sloppy and knowledge is something they don't care about. the covid year retarded their progress academically and emotionally to the point that they still haven't caught up to where they should be.
the 8th graders are better, but they're still behind, though not as dramatically.
high school is going to be really rough for a lot of these kids.
