I'd say if the game rides on Scioscia's current bullpen management, then it's a guaranteed loss.  Need to be up by five or more runs in the 7th inning to have a decent chance.

We don't have the prospects to get in the Price discussion....and the Grieinke deal worked out so well it's part of why we're in the bind we're in--limited prospects, high payroll, inability to do much but make bad trades--Freese, maybe Trumbo (jury still out)....

I think his bullpen management was really good when he had KRod and Shields....you can't make chicken salad out of chicken feces....

Catching is a tough position....never a problem to have 2.....

It is had the potential to be pretty lopsided if Grichuk turns into a good player...and therein lies the problem....if you couldn't do Freese for Bourjos, forget the thing...wasn't worth throwing Grichuk in to make it work....

I don't think there's really a lot of "assuming the Cardinals won the trade simply because they're the Cardinals" going on here.
 
I think the assumption the Cardinals won the trade is because they got 2 young players with upside for an injury prone 3B coming off a down year and an about to be non-tendered reliever.

Awful, awful trade...could potentially, when all is said and done, rank up there w/ Carney Lansford, Edmonds, Devon White and Wells....DiPoto grabbed his ankles to make that deal....

There is one reason why we wont be in the postseason.  Its the bully.  One of the worst Angel bullpens of all time.

This trade was horrible in November and it's horrible now. Grichuk is going to at least be solid and Freese is god awful. Lucho would clearly be better at this point and he's making the minimum.

He did look like that for us, every other year....

I'd rather have either than Shuck, but maybe that's just me.

Probably not a big enough sample size...you need to factor in Salt Lake last year, where he was ok, certainly not dominate...how does that translate to the AL?  Dunno...he doesn't need more seasoning at AAA, he's 26 or so...he is what he is....I just think Blanton is like buying a bad stock...you made a mistake ( and it was a bad mistake on DiPoto's part, no way to argue otherwise), cut your losses and move on...it isn't going to get any better....

Don't think we have to do anything very quickly.....let him pitch some before you make a call....

Seems like an excellent idea to me...he's like the last girl in the bar at 2am...
