Ian Stewart has been told he'll be traveling with the rest of the Angels to take part in the annual exhibition Freeway Series against the Dodgers in Southern California, right where the 28-year-old infielder and current non-roster invitee grew up. He's hoping to stay there a little longer than three days.

yep, i think it's conger, mcdonald, shuck, green and cowgill to start the year. one of cowgill or shuck gets sent down if/when we need another pitcher. long has options so i think he doesn't make it. i think brennan boesch won't find an immediate major league job to opt out on, as his contract states, and he accepts a minor league assignment, at least for a little while.

 

i would have loved to have had torrealba in AAA for when we needed a backup catcher, but you can't really blame him.

Only way I think Stewart has a shot is if they rather have Green playing everyday in AAA at least for a bit.

Otherwise, I think it's a Conger, McDonald, Green, and backup OF(probably Shuck) bench.

If he somehow manages to make the team, he'll be gone by May, after hitting .150 in limited play, and then bitching about not getting a real chance.

Green needs to make better use of his at bats by showing some plate discipline and have an OBP greater than his batting average.

it would be nice to keep stewart around in case ibanez flops or freese gets hurt.  maybe stewart can regain the form that made him a highly touted prospect at one time.  he's looked great the last several games afterall.
