Hogwash. The Angels can still afford Keuchel or Ryu and the defense-minded catcher they want. If the Angels are in the hunt for the division/playoffs come the trade deadline, Arte would be willing to make a trade that takes him over the luxury tax.

Some people (and we know who they are) just talk out of their ass. It's like a fart. Some of them are loud, but don't necessarily smell and some are silent but deadly. Then there's the loud, smelly farts and that's what we get a lot of in here. Rational people leave the room when there is a loud, smelly fart in the room. That being said, there's usually a WTF before they depart - but they know sticking around is pointless. The really gifted people are the one's who can return the favor before departing. The original offender is left alone, smelling their own fart and wondering where everyone went. The point is that you eventually have to leave these a-holes alone to wallow in their own crap.

This...this whole comment.
People here know the score but continue to think Eppler is trading against the "MLB the Show" A.I. and are shocked when he didn't walk away with an effective starting pitcher in a lean market competing against teams in playoff contention with deeper farms.
You can post all the stupid GIFs you want but it won't reflect reality. Eppler inherited a dumpster fire a decade in the making and this is how long it takes to change a franchise's culture and not continue to make the same mistakes that burned you in the first place.
