I'd rather have Rendon and Kluber than Cole alone.

Pitcher fWAR 2014-18:

1. Scherzer 31.7

2. Kershaw 30.5

3. Kluber 30.3

He only started 7 games in 2019 due to an oblique injury (I think), and will be 34 in April, but the years remaining on his contract (2020-21) will cost the same as one year of Gerrit Cole.

It will be interesting to see what kind of package the Indians will require. It will be a big haul, but maybe not a huge one.

Last year aside he had put in over 200 every year since '14.   Coming off injury it could be at least a partial buy low scenario, at least not buy premium anyway with that and only 2 years left on deal.  Pending cost id be game but we would still need a MadBum or something to round it out.

I'm guessing that one of Fletcher/Rengifo, and one of Suarez/Sandoval/Barria will be gone.

A Kluber trade might look like: Marsh, Rengifo, Suarez, Walsh.

I’m surprised he’d cost Marsh and Rengifo coming off his injury.

I have no idea. I just tend to under-estimate, so wanted to be sure I wouldn't be shamed for lowballing the Indians.

Other teams know we're desperate.  They can ask us to overpay and if we refuse, they'll get a good package from another team.  It's a seller's market.

If thats the case id rather dip into FA than lose all that, zero question.

A possible Callaway and Kluber reunion as well.

Is no one worried that Kluber will not be able to return to his all-star form?

Of course. We just realize our rotation as is is a guaranteed wasted year.

I’m surprised you’d think an All Star and Cy Young pitcher with no injury history other than a fluke injury last year could be had for a nothing package....I think Junky has a more realistic package...

Why do I have a bad feeling that the Indians know something about Kluber's injury that the Angels medical staff will just overlook and give the thumbs up to?

The Angels should only trade for Kluber if it means getting him without giving up much in return. At best, they’d be getting an ace. At worst, they’d be getting a mid-rotation starter (maybe).

I would much prefer Darvish, tbh.

Of course we are which makes him affordable.
