Angels_Fan got a reaction from Ace-Of-Diamonds in If the Angels trade for an ACE
Why are many people so adamant that Marsh not be traded? If the opportunity exists to trade Marsh (as a centerpiece) for a frontline starter with more than one year of club control, you take it.

One has to give something to get something. Also, not every prospect pans out - most don’t. If Jon Gray, for instance, can be had for Marsh as the centerpiece of a deal, you take it.

Eppler must be working on a trade. It’s honestly the only thing that makes sense. I refuse to believe that Eppler can be dumb enough to think the current rotation is adequate enough.

No, but it would make the risk more necessary to take now. Since there’s now nobody left to sign.
Thanks for playing.

Trading Marsh would be fine if they can get someone like Jon Gray, for example. But yeah...Eppler better be working on something to make sense of all of this.

Angels_Fan got a reaction from kevinb in Dallas Keuchel signs with the White Sox (3 years, $55.5 million)
He has to be working on a trade for someone like Syndergaard, Clevinger, etc. Right? ......

The Angels need an ace/top of the rotation arms. They should part with Marsh and Canning, if necessary.

Of course they are. The Dodgers aim high, even when they don’t necessarily need starting pitching. It would be nice to see some interest from the Angels, instead of stockpiling back-of-the-rotation arms.

Angels_Fan got a reaction from tomsred in Angels sign Julio Teheran (1 year, $9 million)
There’s a reason this guy couldn’t get any more than a one-year deal and for only $9 million. Because the underlying numbers suggest he’s another Blanton waiting to happen.
Steamer is projecting an ERA close to 5.5 with a 0.5 WAR.

Well, let’s hope so. I don’t know if the Angels are in a position for an experiment (they need certainty at this point), though maybe they can extract some value out of him. I hope that Eppler has something else up his sleeve (a trade for a #1/#2 type?) because this is underwhelming, so far.

He won't be their number two or three. It will be:
Whoever they get next, Ohtani, Bundy, Teheran, Canning, Heaney

Don’t complain if/when he posts a 5-6 ERA, then, and the Angels end up releasing him.

So, barring a collapse on his part, 10/360 is almost guaranteed. Ya, he chose the Yankees because of the years/$. No other team came even close to that.

Angels_Fan got a reaction from CanadianHalo in Analyzing the remaining starting pitcher options
They should. What were they going to do with Marsh, anyway? Trout and Adell will be here for many years. Upton still has upside and isn’t going anywhere. Where does that leave Marsh? And it’s not like it’d be hard to get an OF once Upton’s contract expires.

So one should just blindly hope that he’ll stop giving up lots of HRs and put it all together? Archer is another guy who has a lot of potential but seemed to underperform these last few years for various reasons.
