Taking our fandom out of the equation, if you were Ohtani, would you sign a long term deal with the team that is tied for the longest active non-playoff streak in MLB?  I love my team but I wouldn't sign if I were him....

Well, its nice that the name got changed to LA so everyone from here to New Zealand knows how lousy a franchise it is.

No inside info. I'm just looking at it realistically. 
- The GM that impressed him enough to sign is gone. 
- The manager when he signed on to play is gone. 
- The manager that completely trusted him and loosened the reigns to allow him to flourish is gone. 
- Every player he talked to and connected with in the interview process and he first season besides Mike Trout is gone.
- The team hasn't won. Not a single winning season. 
- Despite being here 5 seasons, the Angels haven't been able to negotiate an extension. 
- The amount of money he's going to command in free agency at age 28, now that there's universal DH opening up opportunities in the NL, being the only successful two way player in anyone's lifetime and the second most successful Japanese import ever, is going to be astronomical. Arte has never exceeded the luxury tax and with Rendon and Trout on the payroll, he'd need to go way past it in order to sign Ohtani AND surround him with the necessary talent while convincing him that they'll win. It's just not gonna happen. 
I don't think he'll be traded. But I do think he'll walk in free agency. Someone, I'm guessing the Mets (their owner Cohen and Arte Moreno have some beef, and they hired Billy Eppler and have proven they'll spend any amount to win), will offer him something outrageous like 7 years 350 million (50 million a year).

Frankly, the fact that Sidhu was busted for giving the Angels inside info in exchange for a million in campaign donations (the article didn’t say but I can’t imagine this actually occurred) coupled with the fact that the Angels aren’t going to litigate has the look that the Angels may have been involved in some shenanigans themselves, or we’re at least going along with Sidhu.  Hope not, but that’s the impression I’m getting.

Just curious if there are any golfers here and how good they are.
I played “regularly” (like 10 times a year) about 15 years ago but it was definitely screw around golf not really taking shots seriously or even trying to get better.  I am not even sure if I was scoring correctly so my old scores are probably meaningless.  I was shooting 92-96ish but again I doubt I was even counting penalty shots correctly.
Then I didn’t just play more than maybe once a year for 15 years.
I just decided to actually play now and I really like it.  For the first time I am trying to play it to score and not just to drink beer.
I have only about 10 rounds in since my new interest (and buying all new clubs), and so far I have shot between 98 and 108. That’s ugly I know, but it seems like I should be able to get myself into the 80s if I keep it going.

It only makes sense if you lower the threshold. Owners either can’t or won’t spend up to the cap to begin with, well 4-5 do but 85% don’t. 

Upton isn’t in the same class as the others imo.
