  1. Right now, we're relying on a bunch of pitchers being better than they were last year - Heaney, Canning, Bundy, Teheran - and one guy bouncing back from TJ surgery who will only pitch once a week.  I don't see Eppler using a lot of the farm to trade for a legit ace, assuming one is available and the Angels can make a better offer than other teams.  Getting Redon was great.  However, we still need pitching and a catcher or two.  Hopefully January brings us help on both fronts.

I think we're close to Hubs' projection.  Bundy and Teheran alone should improve the starting rotation by 6 wins, mostly because they will pitch behind great infield defense.

Trout playing a full season instead of missing a month should easily pick up more than 1 win.

If we add another starter, either via FA or trade, and a catcher, we are plus 3.  (averaging 1.5 each.)

Bouncebacks from 1 of Simmons or Upton, and we'd be in the 90's, win wise.  Just one, not both.

Everything that happened last season can happen again next season.

Well yeah, no GM has the green light to sign anyone without the owner's approval. But the GM negotiates the contract.

As for your second point about him having no track record of signing "TOR" pitching and only liking one year deals, I present to you this picture:

Who was the last one before him? I think it was CJ Wilson and that was a different GM.

We aren't getting 2 more starters. You don't use funds or prospect capital to bring in extra pitchers because the ones you have "might get hurt". That's what depth is for, and we have Sandoval, Barria, Peters, Suarez and even Pena for that.

I agree we do need another pitcher, hopefully Ryu. But beyond that we likely aren't adding much other than MAYBE taking a cheap flyer on somebody.

This means if we don't get Ryu - a distinct possibility given the way the offseason is going - we have Heaney as our opening day starter and a lot of "hopes" in our rotation. We have the latter regardless. Pitching was a priority and we've added Bundy and Teheran when much better options were available.

    It's frustrating.
