Do I think the Angels did enough this offseason to make the postseason in 2020? That's like asking if Pujols sucks or not. Couldn't even get Cole, Ryu, or Kluber, just to name a few. In Kluber's case, go ahead and point out that he wasn't the elite stud on the mound that he was from 2014-2018 based on a small sample size of innings. Go ahead. Eppler needs to go! Making excuses for the clown is useless at this point.

Obviously if he is a clown, you have better ideas. Call Arte Moreno and ask to take over, so that your obvious brilliance can show us the right path.

The Eppler defense is ridiculous. All I saw on here before this offseason was how the Angels were supposed to build for 2020 and beyond. And here we are now, no star starting pitchers whom they got in the last few months Eppler deserves to go, period! This guy is just a fraud, like Pujols.

Eppler supporters making excuses already and 2020 has not even started yet. The team needed starting pitching. Needed another quality starter to go along with the only really solid starting pitcher in  Ohtani. Cole, Ryu, and Kluber were all out there. Couldn't get it done.

I’m seriously starting to think some of the posters here are either burner accounts of or getting paid by the front office or owners of this team.  The undying support for a GM who took a team 2 seasons removed from having the best record in the league with the best player in the game, and produced 4 straight losing seasons with seemingly no desire to fix the team’s biggest hole is mindboggling.  Eppler would have 0 support if this were the Yankees, Dodgers, Mets, Red Sox, Cardinals, Giants, or pretty much any team in the same size market as we are.  Yet people here are absolutely in love with him.  Really strange to see.

Already making excuses for Eppler for 2020. It's been like five years now and the Angels still have not made the postseason even one time since he's been part of the organization.

Bundy still has potential to turn into a solid arm. A move to the AL West should be better for him. And Callaway was a great pitching in Cleveland, so it would not shock me if Bundy begins fulfilling his promise.

Treinen and Walker are both going to the Astros and look like Cy Young pitchers there. Same thing for Felix. He'll go to the Astros and "magically" rediscovers his 2014 form and go 20-3 with a 2.30 ERA and strike out 300 batters in 230 innings pitched next year.

Good thing that Bregman did not win American League MVP over Trout. All hell would have broke loose.

don't forget Aybar and his 81 ops+.  We also had the worst bench ever.  Taylor Featherston had the most at bats outside of our backup catcher.

Nonsense. Acting like Kendrick being traded to the Dodgers was the only reason why the Angels’ offense struggled the next season is just nonsense. Other factors contributed to that. Calhoun was horrible with the bat in 2015. That all or nothing approach that he had that year, which he still does. Glad he’s most likely going to be gone from the Angels. Goodwin deserves to be starting on Opening Day next year with the nice year that he had with the bat, barring someone better than him. Pujols continued to steal cash from the Angels in 2015, was Trumbo-like with the bat, minus the strikeouts. And other players in the lineup underperformed in 2015 as well.

2019 Trout was actually very similar to 2014 Trout. Not just the fact that he won the MVP both years. Think about it, his batting average for both seasons was still pretty good and he was a great home run hitter in both seasons. And to top that off, his stolen base numbers were low by his lofty standards, 16 in ‘14 and 11 in ‘19. But the biggest difference between the two seasons is his plate discipline. He’s always had terrific plate discipline but 2014 was the year in which he struck out 184 times. This season, he struck out just 120 times, albeit he had over 100 more plate appearances than he did in 2014. But unlike 2014, I’m not concern about Trout being an maintaining being elite hitter coming into next season. A big part of that was his strikeout rate in ‘19 was pretty much in line with his other seasons in which he batted over .300. Just had bad luck with BABIP this past season. Could you imagine if his BABIP this past season was in line with his career norm? We might have seen something like a .340/.500/.700 slash line from him. That’s incredible.

JustATroutFan got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Predictions for Goodwin in 2020?
While there were a few breakout stars across the league that got a lot of well deserved recognitions for their performances like Shane Bieber, Lucas Giolito, and Gio Urshela, Goodwin had a nice breakout year with the bat himself. Nice story and one of the Angels that I rooted for. Posted an OPS over .780 and got a lot more playing time than any of us could imagine. He did benefited from a somewhat high BABIP in 2019, so any decent drop in that category could probably take Goodwin down to being a decent/below average bat. What are your predictions for him in 2020?
