I would like him to stay up to 100 pitches. Don't want to take a chance on another BP meltdown

I don’t really believe in jinxes so I’ll go ahead and say this.  For all the hand wringing about the bullpen after the rainout, Shohei is showing exactly what to do to squash that issue.
Go out and manage you pitch count, work effectively, and tell the bullpen to Hold Your Beer.

The Angels are seven games out of the Division and four games out of the Wild Card, so I don't overly fault them for pushing in some chips. However, in my opinion, they need to go a step further and really commit to this, because in order to win the Division they will need more firepower and moving two top prospects for rentals is a bit of a dangerous gamble to angle on just a Wild Card spot only, too much can happen in a Wild Card playoff spot.
This is why Arte Moreno needs to sell this team, he is writing ego-based checks that the Angels organization cannot cash. I have always appreciated Moreno's commitment to maintaining consistently high payrolls, but his interference in what should be purely baseball-based decisions has damaged this franchise over the last 13 years or so.
If this move or moves do not pay off, the fan base is going to be even more unhappy, potentially watching Ohtani, Giolito, and Lopez walk off into the sunset, with a greatly reduced farm system and a probably unhappy Mike Trout heading further into his post-30 years with no hardware to show for what is a truly Hall of Fame career (and he wouldn't be the first, sadly).
I hope the Angels make the playoffs and I hope they go all the way, I love this organization. I fully expect that the Angels will continue to try and add before the Trade Deadline because if you are going to commit like this, you'd better improve so much that you can actually have a shot at bridging the gap to win the Division, too.

Even if the Angels play.600 ball they will not pass Houston , Toronto, NY, or Boston.
So no Ohtani next year, no playoffs this year, no farm haul for Ohtani, no rebuild, and continued futility.
Pretty much Angel baseball since the late sixties. Nothing changes.

As much as I love the idea of a deep playoff run, the chances feel slim even with some strategic adds. The next 25 games after the Detroit series are very tough and I have a hard time believing they have a 15-10 run in them, especially how they have played tough completion so far this season. In fact the opposite feels more likely
They are in a no-win situation unless they pull off a playoff berth and make some noise in the postseason
if it was me, I would move him if the talent package was strong and you got 1-2 guys who are MLB ready. if you can’t resign him, use the $30m to bolster the pitching and add a bat  Plus, Ohtani leaving may mean that Arte goes through with a sale soon. A change of ownership coupled with a talent influx is the best possible outcome for me

If true, the team better win all but one or two games before the deadline.
I think it's a mistake not to trade him. If you don't trade him then you don't trade anyone else either...
Hard decision, but this is the camp that I'm pitching my tent in...no pun intended!

There should be some type of clause that says, if you miss more than 50% of the time on your total contract it no longer counts 100% against the luxury tax or you get X amount of dollars extra in international pool/ X amount extra to sign draft picks etc.

Offensively this team reminds me a little of the 1977 Angels. Bobby Bonds was by far their best hitter. Nobody else was even close. Don Baylor had a little bit below average year for him. Grich and Rudi were the other two big free agent signings and they were pretty much injured all season. They only played in 116 games between them.
They did have Dave Kingman on that team for 10 games before they traded him for Randy Stein who never pitched for the Angels. Kingman went on to hit 270 more home runs including 48 with 115 RBI's in 1979.

I am not relieved even though Neto is out there. I need to see him out there tomorrow as well.
I don't want to see him sit because it starts feeling sore and then find out jaw is broken.

What percent of leadoff walks score?
    Now it's over.
When six key position players went down, the whole pitching staff started to tank. Coincidence?

Yesterday was the opposite of that disaster in KC that started a tailspin.
It would be great if last night started the tail spinning in the other direction.

The whole process this offseason was rather unfortunate.  It basically seemed like Minasian carried over the vast majority of the staff because the team was in limbo due to the possible sale.  Otherwise, it's possible (probable?) that he would have hired someone else to a multi-year deal, and we would have seen a different coaching staff this year.

Although I don't believe in curses, I pretend that the Angels are cursed so when the worst does happen I expect it as if it  is unavoidable.
I pretend there must be some powerful entities that hate the Angels and that success for them is impossible as a result.
Yes it sounds nuts,  but if I am to remain a sane fan after 56 years, I need to be a little nuts, otherwise I would be a lot nuts
