Cant wait to see Rendon out there again. I will be so excited to see him back on the field

Bad timing that tainted my memory of the experience

Of the starting lineup only Ohtani, Rengifo and Wallach have played together beyond this season. And Wallach only played 12 games last year while Rengifo was/is a utility player. And it's been like this in various combinations for a good part of the season.
Hard to have a team in sync offensively, defensively and  attitude wise when they don't have a lot of familiarity and continuity.

This season has to be one of the most (if not THE) most frustrating seasons to be an Angel fan.
They take Ohtani off the market and make several trades, announcing that they’re going “all in” on getting into the playoffs, only to then proceed to lose 9 of their next 11 (so far) since the trade deadline.
Instead of going all in, they should have just traded Ohtani for the best package they could get and folded their losing hand. Now, Ohtani’s going to walk and they’ll get nothing for him but a compensatory pick (as I assume he’ll get a QO).
This season was ultimately bound to fail when Arte announced that he wouldn’t be selling the team. This (I believe) is why they ended up not trading Shohei.

Yeah, the injuries certainly didn’t help, but neither did the coaching staff. The team simply does not seem to make adjustments, especially the starting pitchers.
If Matt Wise and Phil Nevin are retained for another year, I’m going to have a hard look at how closely I continue to follow this team.

I don’t blame Perry for the position this team finds itself in. He definitely went out and addressed needs—as much as he could. I place blame squarely on the Owner’s Box and the coaching staff, although the players themselves also share that blame. At some point, the players need to step it up, and by and large, they have failed to do so.

The last day I watched the scoreboard was August 4. After that loss I gave up.

I would bet that if a detailed analysis was done comparing every player's production who has ever played for the Angels and other organizations, that the great majority would have their poorest stats as Angels.

There’s only one way.  Health of current players improve along with internal player improvement.

They will never do a proper rebuild as long as Arte is in charge.

If they win 81 games it’s an 8 game improvement, which is significant considering the injuries.

This team, this year, isn’t a below average team if they didn’t have injuries. They are one game under .500 right now. Trout, Rendon, Neto, Ward, O’Hoppe, Stassi, the bullpen arms, that’s a minimum of 5-10 games. Plus you buy different things at the deadline with health. Sorry your misery won’t get me to play make believe.

Anyone else remember that feeling, circa 2005, that the Angels had finally figured things out? A solid rotation, dominant bullpen, just enough offense, and a steady pipeline of talent from the minor league system seemed like a great way to be competitive, year in and year out. And it worked for a solid 6-7 years then totally went to shit. It’s really been 14 seasons of futility now (let’s just call 2014 an outlier), approaching the abyss of 1987-2001 for sucking and ineptitude. But likely more frustrating due to the presence of not one, but two generational talents for a significant chunk of the time. What did Bill Stoneman have that the following GMs lacked? Or is it just Arte Moreno? Can we get back to being a quality franchise? Is it just terrible luck? It’s tough to be a proud Angels fan. Again.
