Why is this a good deal for MadBum? I think this is a huge overpay. People were freaking out over 5/100 this is only $3 million a year different. It still kills any flexibility if he doesn't work out.

not when youre getting it for what we thought 4 would cost... to hell with the last year 
 

I'm fine with Keuchel as the second option. The Angels still need a lot more upside that that to put atop the rotation. But Keuchel is looking like he's going to cost 20 million a year, and for 170 innings and a low 4 ERA, that's a lot of money. 
Eppler is running short on options. He probably should've made that Kluber deal. Probably should've bidded higher for Corbin and Wheeler too.
Not looking good. We'll see.

Correction: He's significantly better than what the Angels had last year. At this point of his career he's basically a good #3. 
Obviously Keuchel and nothing else would be shitty.

Hot take: Keuchel isn't very good. Yes, he's better than what the Angels had last year, but he's really an innings eater who gives up a lot of hits.

Why would they trade for Lindor? They have Tatis and Machado.

They’re just stating the obvious ... after signing Anthony Rendon the Angels are the flavor of the day. It’s all good imo ... I think Eppler will find  the team a #1 starter and a good second tier pitcher. No way the team goes into the season with a average pitching staff. 

@Jeff Fletcher can you tell these MLB Network guys to chill. They think the offseason is over and game 1 of the 2020 season is tonight. 

I'd prefer to move Sandoval over Rengifo. If Sandoval can be the centerpiece of a Kluber trade, great. But I wouldn't include them both for Kluber only (now if the Indians have a good relief arm they want to include in the package, that might change the analysis).

Yeah if they give this guy up for Kluber I'll lose it. You don't trade Fletcher.

I don't think that package will do it, unfortunately.  I'd pretty much give up anyone not named Adell/Canning for two years of Kluber.  Whether it's Jones, Marsh, Rengifo, etc.  Kluber is going to be a hot trade target with all of the tier 1 guys off the free agency board.
Sure he's a risky acquisition, but there's no sure thing left anymore unless we go after a primo young stud.

I’m surprised you’d think an All Star and Cy Young pitcher with no injury history other than a fluke injury last year could be had for a nothing package....I think Junky has a more realistic package...
