Sad part about this is the same thing could've been said about this team almost every year since 2015.
Funny thing about this is I used to blame Bane for the Angels being like this 10+ years ago, recalling his infamous line (paraphrasing) "I came here to see a hitter - a player takes a walk, I'm walking to my car"
But for some set of reasons, this team haven't been able to field a team for 162 that can "hit" - other than home runs.
Our OBP/wOBA/RS stats are average, at best, for most seasons.  It's injuries, lack of depth, too-young or 2nd tier players taking too many AB's.
Is it all just bad luck?  Or something else?

DCAngelsFan reacted to Inside Pitch in Industry Opinion on Anthony Rendon & Arte Moreno
I don't care that Blum can come off as negative, he's just not a very compelling writer, rarely shines light on anything of any real value and always seems to take the low road.
I know everyone hates Rendon now, but Blum's coverage of his "injuries" has been completely antagonistic from day one.  Clearly Rendon doesn't like dealing with the media, but constantly commenting on "how" he says "no comment" just comes off as catty/bitchy BS..  I laugh to myself thinking about how he would have dealt with someone like Albert Belle, or rather, how Belle would have handled Blum.  Of course Blum would have likely pressed charges and then written a book about his trauma dealing with Belle.  Whatever, IMO Blum's bitchy style has likely made it harder for him to get info -- and while I'm sure he thinks that makes him a hero, we the reader ultimately get less information about the team and more information about how he's being treated poorly, I couldn't fucking care less.
Some of you hate the guy because he's "negative"..  Some of you like him because you think his antagonistic BS is "telling it like it is".  Blum fans/haters are as tribal as everything else in society is these days...  It all bores the shit out of me.
Someone do some necromancer BS and resurrect Jim Murray.

Good article, even if it illuminates part of the reason this is yet-another lost season, for yet-more entirely avoidable mistakes and errors in judgement.
Wtf is wrong with this organization?
Blessed with two future 1st ballot hall-of-famers, cursed with stupid turtles all the way down ...

I wasn't going to watch - Angels baseball hasn't been a source of much good feeling lately - haven't watched many the last few weeks.
But I got a notification of the Ohtani homerun, and against my better judgment, turned the tv on.  Good game to watch
Sure wish we could bottle that version of Detmers - not overwhelming, but just commanded the zone - hope he can find consistency.   (and a voice in my head chimes in "Too.  Late.") 😕.

Yep, especially this part: "Minasian, however, said he was unaware of the other organizational issues that pitchers cited."

The Angel clubhouse could use a guy like Erstad on the team as a player.   He would have been on their ass  so the manager wouldn't have needed to be the one to call out the lack of effort.

Sorry that you're going thru some things, and sending you best wishes, hope it all works out ok.
And I know what you're saying - the last month and a half has been a personal 40 miles of bad road, now this week, a neighbor died, and even my cat died the other day.  Now deaths here ...
The other day, I saw at my Ohtani shirt hanging in my closet and wondered if I should wear it 'cuz I might be running out of chances.
But I thought "nah, I'm not wearing that.", and instead put on a Dropkick Murphy's t-shirt and went to an Irish pub.
If I can't baseball, I can sure as hell beer ...

But holy sh*t can these guys give us something to smile about right now?
As I said in another thread, it IS just a game. And spoiler alert, none of us are part of it. It's a bunch of strangers playing and us paying for it, and win or lose, we win or gain nothing.
There's a lot more important things out there to get your endorphins up or down.
This is a cheap shot, but everyone needs to think about the good times with Lou, and Brandon.
And then think about the bad times they had without us....
And I know thats a shitty thing to say, but it should hopefully make everyone nod their head and say "yeah, good point." Plenty of worse things out there than seeing strangers suck at baseball.
Sorry, I have my own thing going on at home right now, so I'm probably saying this out of frustration. And it's not at all aimed at anyone reading this. Not trying to preach and say "who cares about baseball, Im having an issue in my life!"
More just to remind everyone to still enjoy the rest of their night, and the weekend, regardless of what our favorite team does. Don't let it affect your real life is what I'm saying.

That said, it's been a shit week, Angels. Can you please try and win a freaking game please?

    Everyone be safe out there.

My name it's Patrick (known as PJ) to my brother Lou. My family and I have been following this since it was first posted and even created accounts. Most know by now that Lou passed peacefully in his sleep on August 8th at approximately 5pm while The Ocho was on TV (c'mon, you know he loved all sports even the weird ones, like Cricket). He constantly bragged about AngelsWin, all the fun times he had here and the trips to watch The Halos play, home and away with you guys. You all were his extended family and loved every minute he spent on here. To see him spend his last several days reading your posts and thoughts about him brought a smile (and tears) to his face, as it did his brothers and sister. All of us have also been keeping up with this post and you will never know how much we appreciate the love, memories, thoughts and especially the pictures you have shared. Our greatest memory with him was being in the front row at the left field foul pole for the Angels 2002 World Series win. All of us hugging and crying tears of joy at the site we thought we would never see. Close 2nd was Barry Bonds flipping us off during the game because Lou kept leading our entire section in a "sterrrroooooids!" chant while we were jamming a Thunderstick into our arms. Honor him by keeping his memory and stories alive. Celebrate his life. "LouDogg" was a smartass until the end and continued to make us laugh until his last breath.
    Sincerely,
    The Garcia Family
    GO HALOS!
(I wanted to post this as a separate topic but I'm new to this and I stink at it. I'm sure Lou is calling me a "dumbass" right now 🤷🏻‍♂️)
Update: I think I figured it out but I'll leave this here just in case.

@stpat373, welcome to the board.... and also, apologies for getting mixed up with us knuckleheads.
Thank you so much for coming on here and reaching out. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying reading that made me tear up, and smile, at the same time.
You knew your brother better than any of us here, so you know how great he was. He's unreplaceable, and this place won't ever be the same now.
But damn did he make it good times for everyone.
Big hug to you and your family. And please don't be a stranger.
But again... I have to apologize in advance for having to read some of our really stupid ideas on here.

I didn't know Lou in any meaningful "real-life" way - but in his posts you could see he was witty without being cruel or curdled, and had a good sense of proportion - he seemed to enjoy the team and baseball when things were good, and didn't get angry when they weren't.  He enjoyed life, and he enjoyed coming here and sharing.
What I'd call a "good dude", and we're always diminished when we lose one of those.
I'm struck by the testimonials and the effect he had on so many people here - the butterfly effect, where what he did and who he was ripples out far from him, to many people, and into the future.  A reminder that what we say, what we do, large and small, good or bad, it all lives on after us.
I hope I'm remembered the way Lou is.
    Rest In Peace, brother.

Hae fun, and be loud - was in the other room last night when I heard loud cheering - I knew the Giants were batting and thought "someone made a great play" - came in to see the Flores had hit a home run.
I mean, I've come to expect that when playing the Red Sox, the Yankees or the Dodgers - but Giants fans?
