That's where the Bears played, the Denver Bears that is. I saw a Broncos game there in 1975, but by that time they had changed the name to Mile High Stadium and added thousands of seats.

Roy Hobbs reacted to Skram in Anthony Rendon Interview
Like most people said, it was more of an interview about him as a person and not a baseball-heavy talk.
As Stradling said, if you want to give him the benefit of the doubt, he comes off as a genuine nice guy, who tries to stay humble and is trying to use his faith to guide his life. If you think he is a horrible person, then I guess that's what you will hear. For my part, as a Angel fan and a human being, hope he bounces back and finds some health and success!
Quick notes:
His off-season is consumed by his 4 kids and they are making him realize how fast life is travelling by.
He's a WW2 history buff and enjoyed the recent Netflix documentary. (Reminded me, I need to check that one out!)
Talked about how he got into hunting and why he enjoyed it. Got into it in college and enjoyed the comradery, and also the focus and "quiet time" aspect of it.
Feeling ready for the season, trying to focus workout program on dealing with the wear and tear of so many years of baseball on his body.
Thinks the key to winning over the course of the season like he had in 2019 is having an incredible team chemistry to help carry you through the inevitable ups and downs of a season.
Enjoyed his time with Dusty Baker and his approach and honesty.
Excited to play for Washington, has met and had conversations with him before, but has only talked to him on the phone since he was signed as manager.
When asked, stated he definitely did not think Ohtani was coming back to the Angels.
Asked if he could be appointed commissioner and change one thing about MLB, it would be the length of the season.
The rest of the interview he was asked about his faith and his journey and he talked about that, and the teammates who helped him on his journey.

It's probably the two domestic violence arrests.

Roy Hobbs reacted to Duren, Duren in Two Million
In the 80s and 90s sports talk radio that allowed call ins was the main outlet for venting and debating. If one had the patience to wait and deal with the quirks of the host.
The Internet has been a great alternative. And allows both real time and personally convenient time options. Sometimes I'll check various sports teams I follow early in the morning. Sometimes late at night. And on game days, more in real time.
I like to learn and expand my knowledge from seeing the input of others. I've gained a ton of knowledge here about Angel history. I started to seriously follow them when the Expos disappeared, though I was sympathetic to them from their earlier years because of certain players and seasons where they played exciting ball. But my focus was the National League mainly.
I empathize with the life long fans here. I'm one in other sports for a couple of teams.
Now I think of myself as a loyalist. I've gone to games most years since the early 2010s and have a sense of familiarity about the stadium. I also pay for MLB Extra Innings and watch probably about the 60% or so of Angel games they broadcast.
Baseball is unique as an almost everyday game day. Without this site I would be so much out of sync with on and off the field developments.

Like you said, they looked at things differently 50 years ago. Hell just by watching Hollywood movies of those times, its no wonder why domestic violence was so common.

Speaking of musicians they also had great bands on,like Cream,The Doors and The Who and many others. The episode with The Who is crazy,Keith Moon blows up his drumkit, with probably too many explosives.

Really deserves his own thread.....
I remember first hearing the Smother Brothers when my dad, who was working at AFRTS, brought home their album. It had them singing standard folk music along with their Mom always liked you best routine. I became and instant fan. So clever. Tom, why'd you yell fire when you fell into the vat of Chocolate?
I saw them a few years ago when they were playing the Orleans in Las Vegas. Tom did his Yo-Yo tricks along with lots of other nostalgic bits.
Tommy played guitar with John Lennon during the famous Bed-In / Give Peace a Chance event.
Thanks for all the laughs Tom. I think Mom really did like you best.
RIP

i loved watching the smothers brothers weekly tv show when i was a kid. didn't understand everything, but always loved the 'mom loved you more routine.' they were always hilarious (and steve martin was one of their writers).
they were also good musicians, which often got overlooked by their terrific humor.

Roy Hobbs reacted to totdprods in Bobby Valentine: Perry was set to trade Ohtani at deadline, Arte stopped him
Eh. The Angels were in decent shape late July. It was Arte's last chance to win with Ohtani (and maybe help sway negotiations) and their first true shot at contending in years. Arte has long said his focus is on the fans and their experience. Most fans don't care about the farm. Most fans only care when the team is winning, and don't really care when they're not. It's only us diehards who see the baseball logic. Arte sees it as no more than a passing entertainment moment. When we remove our diehard emotions from the equation, keeping Ohtani was the obvious move to make. It had the best chance of giving the Angels a winning team in the moment and bringing fans in. It didn't work out. Those same casual fans will come back whenever the Angels are winning again.
Flipping switches, sure, it would've been great to trade Ohtani and get some prospects back, plus keeping the ones we dealt, but while we did trade away a bunch of interesting guys, I don't think we gave away a bunch of future perennial All-Stars. Quero could be Victor Caratini, and he was arguably the best prospect we lost. Our farm is just that bad.
Also, these franchise player deals rarely make the impact people would expect.
Betts and Price to Dodgers - Verdugo has been decent, now a Yankee, Downs has bounced around, Connor Wong is okay but not looking like much
Goldschmidt to Cardinals - Carson Kelly and Luke Weaver were the big gets, and both have basically flopped and become DFA waiver bait
McCutchen to Giants - hey! A good deal! Pirates got Bryan Reynolds
Longoria to GIants - Denard Span and a slew of flop prospects
Stanton to Yankees - Starlin Castro and a couple prospects yet to have any impact
You can go on with first Verlander trade, Miguel Cabrera, Nolan Arenado, Francisco Lindor, Blake Snell...none of these created franchise-altering returns.
As nice as it would've been to get a cadre of prospects back from Tampa (who notoriously trades well), I have doubts that it would've done made a massive difference. If anything, Perry's work to trim payroll and get the Angels back into 2nd round comp pick territory might be almost on-par with the type of surefire guy we would've gotten back.
If the Angels want to rebuild the farm, the best way to do it over the next 1-3 years will be avoiding FAs who cost them a pick and selling high on arb. guys like Rengifo, Ward, Sandoval, and Canning.
If they sign one-year guys the next two years and flip them at the deadline, they'll arguably restock the farm with the same quality of guys they lost last deadline.
Not a monumental deficit to overcome, IMO.
