If you don't already subscribe to Apple TV+, just do a 7-day free trial for the April game then cancel. Spend $6.99 to subscribe for the full month of June to capture the other two games--and binge-watch Ted Lasso, Shrinking, etc.  It's not that hard.
And if anyone here is struggling and really can't afford to subscribe for the month of June to watch those 2 games, DM me and I'll take care of you.

Team USA Had the same issues the Angels have had, can’t get the big hit when they need to and the pitching is suspect.

Trout, Renfroe, Walsh with Adell, Moniak as depth is starting to look like a good outfield, we know how that goes with the angels so I am tempering my expectations.

hopefully driveline turned Adell into a legit Major League hitter.

Exactly. This is a great sign. Now they likely offered him 2-3 years, but still means they're not obsessing over their own prospects. Look at TOR. Have several great catchers, and now they are in a position of strength to trade.
Has nothing to do with confidence in O'Hoppe. He's 22. Let him earn it, let him learn it.
Best part about this to me is a few things:
    1) They aren't holding SS open for Neto if they aren't holding C open for O'Hoppe. O'Hoppe is way closer.
    2) They want to upgrade the lineup now, and Contreras over Stassi means they aren't blindly believing their guys will be good again.
    3) They are being aggressive even if we aren't hearing anything. Kind of always how they've done it.

Now what about in regards to past WS winning teams?
Imagine winning a marathon the year it was only 6 miles.
The Angels this past year had one of the best records in baseball after the first 50 games...

In that scenario, Id rather give that to someone like Nimmo and then trade Ward+ for a SS.
If no other moves are possible, id be fine with it.

LF, RHH 1B/3B utility guy not named Duffy, re-signing Lorenzen, and two SOLID late innings relievers would be a good push in the right direction.
Adell does need to spend the first half of 2023 at SLC to continue the defense improvements and retool his swing and plate approach like Rengifo did.

And obviously I'm team Maddon, that shouldn't be a question. Reading this, from Maddon's POV obviously, shows that Moreno gave control to an unproven GM with a veteran manager again, same as he did with Tony Reagins and then DiPoto and Eppler with Scioscia.
If you look at where the team was after his argument with Minasian, on May 9, they played they were 20-11 after that night and the next night was Detmers No Hitter and Tony hitting the left handed dinger....but they then played .500 baseball for two weeks, and started the insane losing streak when they began to face better teams.
The losing streak being an excuse to fire Maddon, instead of the reason, shows the Angels are in real trouble. I though Minasian was a player first guy and that they had good chemistry, but I should've read into the Montgomery decision, and the other decisions, and now I'm hoping a Theo Epstein or Billy Beane joins the ownership group and everyone is dismissed.
They forced Maddon onto Eppler, and then Minasian, obviously which is a huge issue.
Guess Minasian has his yes man in Nevin, doubt the Angels will be in a better spot now.

The Mohawk was equivalent to firing of Maddon.  Both were desperate attempts to fire up the team and turn the season around. If you don't like the Mohawk you shouldn't like the firing.

I'm neutral. No idea who the bad guy in all this is. (I do remember @Inside Pitch pointing out shifts last year, so that's not a good look for maddon).
But anyway. I have no side to take.
But I still laugh (literally) that we were stuck in a death spiral collapse. And Joe's idea was to shave his head into a Mohawk. And got fired the same day.
    That's funny.
It's literally like Gosselin putting the home run cowboy hat on in a blowout game we lost, and he sat out, to pump up the boys, and then got released after the game.

From what we know, the front office wasn’t calling down to make lineup changes. They were simply just calling down to have Trout pulled in a blowout after Trout complained of groin soreness pre-game.
The fact that they had to do that says there wasn’t trust between Maddon and the front office— which would be an issue that had presumably built up.

When your position starts off by speculating what did or didnt happen you're not starting from a very solid spot.  What we do know is Theo said he needed to be removed and he gave his reasons why.  Reasons not unlike those we have now seen played out in Anaheim, best of all, we need not speculate about it because its been Maddon doing all the talking.
You need to understand that I was actually on here in game day threads pointing out when the info showed one thing and the Angels did the opposite.  There was no rhyme nor reason to things, sometimes they set up for a shift when the batter showed no tendencies, other times the data screamed "shift now you morons" and they wouldnt... It was unreal.  I bitched about it so much our resident beat writer mistook my ramblings as being anti-shift.  When I clarified I was pointing to usage, set ups, and defensive positioning, I was told "they have more info than you", a fact I couldn't deny so I'd shut the fuck up.
Fast forward to 2022, after firing some coaches and the GM putting one of his boys on the bench, the team suddenly started to shift when the data called for it. They stopped shifting when it said don't, suddenly almost magically the data readily available to us dopes was lining up perfectly with what the team did.  Amazingly whatever data the team had now matched the readily available data to us pissants -- can you believe the luck?  Lo and behold, the results were night and day diffferent, suddenly the pitching wasn't awful...
It was all a coincidence played out over the span of three years right?
As far as to whether or not we would have heard a out it it or not.... Do you think Maddon could get away with talking shit about Theo like he could Minasian?  Think maybe he's banking on people viewing the Angels as a dumpster fire so he is willing to shit all over the old mantra about keeping it in the clubhouse to save face???
Maddon is the only person talking shit.

aaaaaand... maddon acts like he was trying to copy these like an outsider. he was with the braves. that's why he said we did it this way with the braves. also, isn't he related to the blue jays too?
don't you hire guys from successful organizations with the idea that they will implement some of the concepts that were successful over there?
