If you don't want to "overpay" for defense this is about the best offensive team I could think of realistically putting together if the focus wasn't on defense. It's a really solid lineup on paper. Adding 21 million per year for Upton, Freese will add about 9 million, Walker will probably earn about 11 million.. That would add about 41 million to the payroll, minus whateve we trade for Walker (most likely Shoemaker) we would still need a pen arm also, and a starter (which looks all but out of the equation) so it would be an expensive team, albeit a WS contender

Lol we sign a utility infielder and all of a sudden we can't afford high priced free agents even after Moreno has said the luxury tax isn't an issue for the right player. I would expect a premier left fielder, a second baseman, a starter, and a bullpen arm. The front office is pretty aware of our needs

Sounds good to have as a 4th outfielder option, I feel like the Angels need a 4 hitter though so Upton is who I want to see them grab. (That's if scioscia would even move Pujols down to 5) That still leaves us needing a lead off hitter unless we are looking to have Simmons be our lead off guy.

The Zobrist idea is looking more and more like a must for this team, if they can get upton and aoki I think that this team will be much better. I'm on the side that thinks a starter isn't a necessity, fix the offense and bullpen and then worry about the rotation if the FO isn't feeling confident in it
