Knox just completed a 2nd round 66 to throw his hat in the ring for the weekend.  I believe Clarke and the Euro's will regret passing him over for the Ryder Cup team.  I can understand his reasoning, but I strongly disagree.  There are some inferior players to Knox that made that squad.
And then the big question...who does Love choose with his final captains pick?  Bubba, Thomas or Berger?  I can't imagine it's not Bubba, but I also couldn't imagine Knox getting passed over.  These captains are big on 'chemistry'.

I don't know how you could possibly fault a kid for wanting to be a part of the Notre Dame football experience. Regardless of his professional aspirations that's got to be a tough thing to pass up.
As far as the hit, I think anything that targets the receiver above his shoulders is considered illegal no matter what part of the body is used to make the hit.

Yep. It was a total bullcrap and unconscionable no call. The play clearly fit the rulebook and the examples given in the rulebook (hint: one of the examples given in the rule describes exactly that play) for targeting. If they're really going to try and protect players in the sport, they need to call that. It doesn't matter if the refs are scared that 100k or so people in Austin or wherever at the game will be fuming mad that the outcome of the game may be altered. If you commit the penalty and it affects the game, so be it. Refs should call it. They can get a police escort out of the stadium after the game if need be.

The Texas DB is lucky he wasn't ejected and suspended by the NCAA.   I thought that type of hit was outlawed?
