aznhockeyguy got a reaction from Vegas Halo Fan in house broken into
This happened about 16 years ago when I was in high school.  Our house is in a cul de sac and we also had a dog in the backyard, so keep this in mind. I felt ill at school and had a family friend pick me up to take me home from school as the school was unable to reach my parents.  As we arrived home, I saw a bunch of cops and 3 dudes in their early 20s sitting on the curb in front of my house handcuffed.  I asked the cops what was going on.  They told me the 3 guys were caught inside my house stealing.  They got in through the backyard and back door, gave my dog some food to get in, and proceeded to lift small items such as my playstation 1, video games, my coins that I collected, a camera, my portable cd player, and other various stuff that I don't remember.  Our neighbor across the street called the cops as she saw them enter the backyard.  I heard a few months later they got sent to jail for a few years as they were caught a few times before.  We got all of the stuff returned after the cops took pictures and dusted for prints as evidence.
Sorry that this happened to you man, it sucks getting your stuff stolen as it's a gigantic pain and hassle to replace.  I got lucky since I have vigilant neighbors and they were dumb enough to try it in broad daylight.

White Sox got fleeced!  Top 5 pitcher in the AL, durable albeit with a funky delivery, left handed, SUPER-TEAM FRIENDLY CONTRACT at 3 years /38 mil with the last two as TEAM OPTIONS!!! and all they got were the 3rd best prospect in all of baseball, the team's 4th best prospect, and 2 low-level prospects?  If I was the White Sox I would have required Betts and go from there.  Having ace pitchers on a way below market-value contract with team options for multiple years in his prime years is much more valuable than a prospect that may or may not pan out.

This is going off-topic so I'll keep it brief.  No major league team should be given any public money to build a stadium.
I don't know why they can't play at Anaheim Stadium.  It's much improved the last time football was played there.

If the Braves do release Aybar, Angels should pick him up and play him at 2B.  Would make a fun double play tandem.

aznhockeyguy got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Cron deserves to be benched!!!
So read the thread before and after last night's game.  CJ at this point is not a very good player and unless he starts improving in the next few seasons, probably deserves to be a bench/rotational/platoon player for his career.  Per fangraphs, he's 23rd among 1b in OPS and 12th out of 14th in OPS if he was considered a DH this season.  His minor league stats weren't all that special until he arrived at PCL, which is notorious for being a hitters' league.  His glove is atrocious.  He has the lowest walk rate since he entered the league among first basemen and his "power" isn't all that great as his ISO for his career is .176  which is 22nd out of 34 1st basemen since he entered the league and has at least 800 PA's per Fangraphs.  While he is still young, unless he improves his strike zone judgement or batting "eye", he isn't a good player at this point of his career and should be considered a marginal player.

EDIT: Also would like to add that CJ reminds me a lot of Eric Karros and sure enough their stats are very similar at the same ages. Cron's stats; Karros's stats

I was gonna say Prince, but since Detroit is helping offset the cost significantly didn't think it'd be top 5.  Completely forgot about Cano.  Kemp again, considerable offset by the Dodgers.  Miguel Cabrera is too early for me as he's still elite hitting-wise.  In 2-3 years from now, it'll be number 1.

It amazes me what the average person spends money on a daily basis.  Daily Starbucks/Jamba Juice morning run, buying lunch, and eating out for dinner, that adds up!

I would think you play Escobar at 3rd.  For all the hate on Johnny, he was a 1 War player at league minimum and had almost a .700 OPS.  That's fairly valuable on a team with budget constraints due to poor contracts.  I wouldn't look to upgrade 2B until LF is solved first.

I agree with you that they're not similar, but when I saw that post I was on Escobar's baseball reference page and found it funny that baseball reference has EA as the highest similarity score for active players.  It was too perfect not to post.

Not sure how Baseball reference's similarity score works, but it's far from perfect.  I only posted it to show the irony of someone's post and found it funny.
I really like the trade as Escobar is on a pretty team friendly contract.

Wow very surprised at the number of teachers in this forum.  I too attended CSUF, BA degree with a concentration in Accounting.  I also have my CPA and can sign off on audits.  I'm leaving the industry to become a math teacher and am half way done with my credential.  The reason I'm leaving the corporate world is because the corporate world sucks.  Long story short, I made some really bad decisions regarding my career and have numerous gaps, I worked with numerous recruiters giving me conflicting advice on everything for my job search.  I've had a lot of temp jobs with no benefits that is below my ability level.  Frankly, I got sick and tired of employers paying less and less for more and more.

My high school had the IB program but I did not do it, but had friends who did.  It was very very tough.  I was told that a lot of colleges don't accept AP/IB credit to skip classes.  CSUF accepted my AP tests that allowed me to receive credit/skip classes.  Although I agree with CaliAngel's sentiment regarding CSUF, I would also say that college is what you put into it.  If you work hard and strive for good grades and challenge yourself then you'll get more out of college.

I always thought that as well when he was a prospect.  Like yea he has a great glove and high contact/plate discipline numbers, but he wasn't a masher that you normally expect from elite 1B prospects.  His ceiling was a better version of Mientkiewicz.
