It would be great if we wore the dumb red 3rd jerseys less.  We look like tomatoes out there in those !  I love the regular white and grey home/road uniforms.

While working the Bud Kuhl Invitational at the stadium this past weekend, I was able to confirm the score board upgrade. The RF scoreboard will remain the same size however, the video screen will be enlarged by about 50%. The entire LF scoreboard will be enlarged and will be one big  video screen. All video screens will be HD, just like up the road. In addition, the entire sound system is also being replaced/upgraded.
As for intrastructure, the only thing I noticed was the resturarnt formally known as the Knot Hole (Club Level), is being completely rebuilt.  No idea what it will be. Heard rumors of a self serve cafeteria (???).

I have been to half of the ballparks in baseball. The Angels park was a budget designed park that represents the architecture of the 60's and I have been going to that same ballpark from it's opening swason to today.
I could go on for multiple paragraphs about what I know about the difference between this 53 year old design and the modern parks but I know you've got your head in the sand and believe some fresh paint and a couple of prop hats out front make it a different venue. It isn't, the underpinnings that can't be changed fixes this stadium in it's time period and doesn't take advantage of what the newer designs can.
It's still my favorite place to take in a game because I've grown up with it but I know, like myself, it's getting a little old in the tooth. We both should probably retire soon but the money just isn't there.

Something funny (sad) to think about. We hated mathis back in the day becsuse he was the black hole in a decent lineup,  batting 8th. We all wanted naps and his bat. Sosh and the pitchers raves about mathis.
Cut to the present when maldo is pretty well liked for his defense, pitch calling. We dont worry about his bat when his glove is good. And we have a whole slew of guys hitting mathis-like (esponoza, valbuena until recent, espinoza, pujols etc). I guess that shows how much our offense has slipped over the years.
Funny to look back on the hate vlad got his last year here, matsui, abreu, rivera, howie, etc. All those guys would be welcome here now. Guess we got spoiled for awhile.

gklingel52 reacted to Docwaukee in Rebuild? Time to consider it for fans, players
Rebuilds only work if you feel you are getting future value commensurate to current value.
There is also some important math where having a specific player might actually offset (or come very close) their own salary just because of fan interest.
So there are major financial repercussions to consider as well.
If the Angels traded Trout, there would be very little fan interest in this team.  Fans weren't showing up when this year when they had a shot at the 2nd WC.  Why?  I think most fans (maybe not those here) are bored of the mediocre surrounding a franchise player.
After the seattle series, the halos are going to end up with almost the exact same home attendance as they did last year during a 74 win season.
I would wager that you give up at least 40mil in revenue if Trout isn't on the team anymore.
So good luck convincing Arte that he's going to take a huge PR hit as well as a huge financial hit to bring in other players because it might lead the team to being better several years from now.
Do Arte's math on that for a second.  Wouldn't he be better off just spending more and keeping Trout than trading him and losing the Trout revenue?  At worst it's likely even.  He's also 71 years old and he's got a golden goose.  He can stay below the CBT threshold and still get 3 mil fans to show up.
Then there's the thought that you'd have to find a suitor for Trout that could give you what he's worth in return.  A franchise that's willing to significantly disrupt their major league club and/or decimate their franchise.
The risk of trading Trout this far out from free agency is just too great.  You'd have to clearly win that trade if you are Eppler and Arte.  I am not seeing a way to guarantee that or even make it highly likely.

We'll find out in the off-season. Unless Sosh announces he's going to retire at the end of next season, I don't think they'll let him start the season without an extension. Otherwise, they'll get hit with the non-stop distractions of the "Are you going to be back?" questions all season.
As much as it kills me to write this, my money is on he signs at least a 2 year extension.

    what;s wrong with everyone.
has baseball now descending to the level of political discourse in these times?
what happened to people having honest disagreements and opinions with neither side right or wrong -- just different perspectives?
players can gripe a bit but there's a line and at one time everyone knew where that line was.
now you have trigger hair umps who will toss a player for saying ANYTHING and you also have players (like Kinsler's example) that cross the line.
at one time everyone understood their role..............managers and players who gripe : 1. If there was a legitimate rule interpretation issue gone awry; 2.) a close play that could have been called either way; 3.) an inconsistent strike zone from the home plate ump -- if it's a strike in the first inning or for one team, it's a strike in the ninth inning and for BOTH teams......
Managers and players could kick up a slight fuss and move on without getting kicked out.  Sometimes the manager argued a call just to rev up his team -- other times a manager (Whitey Herzog managing St. Louis) would get toss early in the game on a getaway day before an off day to get an early start on an otherwise impossible to schedule mid-season fishing trip.....
But now GEEZ -- everyone's aggreived by any argument..........folks -- that's the game..........close calls that get complained about that could go either way..........
    let's get back to baseball.........

Well, if there is any bright side in this, maybe it'll be a wake up call for Calhoun, Pujols, and Valbuena to kick things up a notch.

And perhaps an opportunity for both Maybin and Revere to keep upping any trade value. I don't expect both to be with the team past the deadline so here's their shot to get regular playing time.

I think it's time for the Angels to listen.  He's an all-time great for this franchise.  He took a hometown discount to stay when he was on top of his game.  Angel management decided to let him go, which is an understandable business decision, but to issue a player #36 the very next season is ridiculous.   Similarly stupid to re-issue #27 the year after Vlad left (and before Trout).   We have some bad decision making here.

Silver lining...won't need to worry about preserving his innings in the 2nd half. That said, we've reached the point where the Angels can't really trust Skaggs going forward and will need to address SP in FA. He hasn't shown he can hold up over the course of the season at all

There is no reason why an entire rotation and bullpen should be getting hurt this often. Something has to be wrong with the way they are being brought up and developed. This is utterly ridiculous and eventually blame has to be placed on the staff.

In regards to Cron, he is very streaky. If you remember, in 2015, he was horrible and got send down like in May and once he came back, he started to kill the baseball. Then last year, he started off slow as well, looking at his numbers in April. Then, starting in May, he was really good and ended the year putting up solid overall numbers. I would wait until like May before I would start worrying about Cron.

I'm sure he sleeps well on his billions
    so would I.
CJ Cron shouldn't see anymore regular playing time. Just start Marte. Idc about analytics. My analyzation of Cron is that he is lost every AB, can't make solid contact, and is a avg 1B defensively.
Im not even mad about Maybin, Revere, Espinosa. They are who they have been their entire career.
How the Big Catorce still has a job is beyond me. Any other manager would have been let go years ago. He's done well for the organization, put us on the map, brought a title to Anaheim, but his teams just aren't managed well. Different year same problems.
Seriously enjoy Michael Nelson Trout while we have him. He is going back East next chance he can get.

    until they prove me wrong.
2 miraculous wins and we are still 7-11.
Our #4 hitter whiffs on 3 pitches in a critical situation and is hitting .203.  Pretty much his standard for April with the halos.
We still suck at LF and 2b.
Our #5 hitter is hitting .213 after going 0-6 and leaving 6 guys left on base.
We have one player with an ops above .740.  One player that has started the season well.
Oh and the pitching is still all over the place.
I've tried to support what they are doing and frankly, they should be better relative to what I see on the field.
When are they actually going to perform?
Maybe they won't, but I'm tired of trying to find the silver lining
