AngelsFanForever reacted to Docwaukee in 26 wins
So by my very precise calculations, the Angels need to win about 90 games to make the playoffs in 2024. They won 73 games and lost a 9 win player.
Hence they need to make up 26 wins from last year.
Where are they are coming from?

Fuck off with the “he doesn’t give a shit about winning”. It’s a really dumb fucking thing to say.

dude, i couldn't disagree with you more.
if you've ever spent time around a professional athlete, you'll universally find that they all want to win. sure, they want to get paid, but they value winning a lot more than we fans sometimes remember, and that includes everyone from Squid to Trout.

AngelsFanForever reacted to Angel Oracle in OC Register: Angels save about $5.7 million after 5 waived players are claimed
I predict that Giolito pitches a lot better for Cleveland.
His struggles here better send a final message to Minasian that something is wrong with the pitching portion of the coaching.

AngelsFanForever got a reaction from Reveille1984 in Ohtani wants to win, so where should he go?
Angels. He will stay. He wants to win and won’t go the way of say LeBron, by choosing a ready made winner. He wants to be the main reason for a team to win it all!

The Angels are in it, but all the crappy play earlier in the season means they have a very small margin of error.

Even aces have bad games.
Strider gave up 8 runs recently.
Let’s see how Giolito (not an ace) does after being settled in and pitching at home. (Fingers crossed.)

Yeah pretty much this. Of course, they need to start actually winning series vs good teams since they'll be facing quite a few of them down the stretch, something they have struggled doing all season long.

People don’t realize how big that is
they went 2-4 against really good teams on the road
I’ll take that

You don't get into the playoffs (or do well IN the playoffs if you do miraculously make it...) by losing two-thirds of games against good teams, regardless of where the games are played.

Not sure why anyone thinks Austin Hedges is any good. He’s a worse Jeff Mathis. Look at his stats, holy shit they’re bad

Yes, but it seems to happen every year, for whatever reason. Usually we start with more bad players than we did this year.

Ward is a big loss to our offense.

AngelsFanForever reacted to Stradling in Angels talking to the Nats about Jeimer Candelario
The cost to acquire Candelario can’t be too high, and if he adds depth and another offensive threat, then sure why not. However if we are going to use our bullets the best I’d prefer we solve issues at catcher and bullpen. I am guessing the Nats have a bullpen arm or two to extend the trade.

Paris is just about the only prospect I wouldn’t move. There’s too much need at infield and he’s close enough to contributing.
Anyone else we have in system has some redundancy, are too far off, or have other guys around them on the depth chart.

Tomorrow is a very important game. We can't be a serious playoff contender if we lose the series to the lowly pirates.

AngelsFanForever reacted to Slegnaac in Would you give Phil Nevin a Contract Extension?
I would offer him another one year contract, but let him know that he is going to have a new pitching coach and bullpen staff.

AngelsFanForever reacted to Tank in Would you give Phil Nevin a Contract Extension?
I want to like Nevin for this job, but after putting in Estevez in the 8th and Barrie in the 9th last night, that was a final straw moment for me.
