I agree that Hamels would be perfectly fine as a "3rd" addition to the rotation. If the choice is between Heaney or Hamels I'm choosing Hamels all day every day.

I really don't understand how Bowden still has a job, he is never right.

ukyah reacted to aznhockeyguy in MLBTradeRumors FA Predictions // Cole, Miley, and Castro
As good as Cole is, the rotation has too many holes to plug. I'd rather split that 8/256 to Wheeler and Mad Bum. You don't put all your eggs in one basket as good as he is especially with all the extra innings he pitched this season and you don't commit as much money for as long.

still one of the best lines ever written in AW history.

it's nice to see some positivity in this thread. it's crazy how quickly fans resort to calling a player "done" or a "pussy" when they've been a strong performer over their career, but have a season where they are clearly hurt and get zero respect.

hamels is a good pitcher. look at his numbers this year and last. they are very decent. it all depends on value, but if it's there, then he'd be a really good 3rd FA addition.
if they did anything like many hope/expect, then you'd be sliding him in at #4, pushing canning down to #5. that's far better than what the angels have had in recent years. like i said, there has to be value in the contract, but if it's there, then he's a solid signing on a year to year or two year deal.

look at bumgardner's year overall, then first half/second half. i think he's past that quad accident. depending on the offers he gets, there's potential there for a really great value contract. if he were a part of a big duo or trifecta that was an alternate to the gerrit cole plan, then i could see that having overall better value. i'm great in either scenario, but i want to see the angels win. i'm tired of losing.
if at all possible, i'd love to see the angels lock down a wheeler or bumgardner early in FA, while still going after a cole or stras. my expectations are tethered to the ground still, but i like the idea of eliminating all the "losing" scenarios, like what happened last year, by locking down either one of those two.

the teams with the best uniforms are the ones that haven't changed them aside from tweaks. leave the angels alone. the league has more than enough middle of the road navy blue to last eternity.

The market is limited in RF options but to look at this another way, all teams have to do is gamble that the Angels will buy him out and then pay him less money to sign as a free agent.
All depends on Kole's market of which I am sure Eppler has explored and understands pretty well. I am leaning now more toward the Angels simply buying him out.

That was a super fun game.
The Nats seem like good guys. I am glad the good guys won.

i'm stoked. i'm always rooting for the team that's never won a world series. i don't dislike the astros, so that would have been fine, but there's few things more fun that watching a team win it for the first time.

ukyah reacted to kevinb in Angels focused on staying in Anaheim.
Like other other buildings in the area. The owner. I don’t know if that question is real or not. You know most buildings are built by companies right? Arte is worth a lot of money has made a lot of money and I don’t know the financing he can get for it but it won’t be the city forking over a billion dollars I’ll tell you that much. He will either build that stadium himself or it won’t get done. I’ve dealt with the city in business deals previously. There’s zero percent chance the city will build him a stadium.

in my opinion the only solution is building a new one on the existing property. There’s no way they’re spending hundreds of millions of dollars renovating the existing stadium.
