It's been funny to watch the Dodgers squander so many chances at a WS over the last several years despite having dominant teams, but it's hard not to see them getting over the hump at some point. Hope it isn't the case but they just continue to set themselves up well year after year. Their MLB roster is loaded and they seemingly have a top 10 farm system every year

My personal belief is it is a better/safer contract than Bryce Harper, Stanton, Manny Machado, Strasburg or Gerrit Cole.  Of the really big contracts it might be second to Trout.  I could be totally wrong, but dude is really good and plays both sides of the ball really well.

About $30 million a year in constant dollars. Not adjusted for inflation, right?
If the hyperinflation ever hits with all this COVID money printing, that $30 million will be a bargain.

    Yo, dummies!

"Teheran spoke with Enrique Rojas at ESPN Desportes, and said he’s still in Atlanta, after he and his family experienced coronavirus symptoms. Teheran is currently awaiting test results.
“I was not feeling well, I had pain in my body, in my back, and we preferred not to take the risk. We are waiting for the results today or tomorrow and, if negative, I’ll travel to Los Angeles this weekend,” Teheran told Rojas, in Spanish."

Teheran was left off of the Braves playoff roster last season and then they just let him walk. He recently changed agents after signing with the Angels. Something is wrong with this guy.

He is in his age 29 season and has a career 3.67 ERA.  Not sure I would say final phase or lackluster.

I think I've written this before, but it would be genuinely funny if he plays one last year in SL and hits .290 with 45 bombs, then talks about how he was inspired by all the great fans. (Maybe not funny per se, but the comments here would be worth it.)

ukyah reacted to Justin in In terms of slash line, how do you think Trout will perform at the plate this season?
Possibly? For sure. Most likely? I dunno. He was hitting .423 in the second half and .475 in August when the season was called off.
I was on a family vacation in San Diego in '93, and I asked my dad if we could go to a game at The Murph. It was a doubleheader and as we drove to the game we learned that Tony was only five hits away from 2000. I asked my dad if he thought we might see #2000. He said "It's unlikely." Sure enough, Tony got 5 hits on the evening.
My point? Never underestimate Tony Gwynn. As I wrote in another thread a few months ago, there will never, ever be another non-Angel whom I like as much as I did Tony.

I'm not sure how old you are, but in '94, Tony Gwynn was pretty damn close.
Unfortunately, all that anyone remembers from that season is that Fred McGriff had to miss 48 games.

With just 60 games we could see some whacky rate stats. This might be the one year in our lifetimes where a hitter actually has some sort of shot at .400.

anybody whose advice to a person concerned about their family is that they should move out, is a retarded idoit and should be forced to wear a protective helmet.
that's the most ignorant shit imaginable.
how much money someone makes isn't even part of the problem or the solution.
imagine if trout or wheeler play and their wife gets sick. imagine if they lost one or both of the wife and baby. how do you think that would make them feel? how would that make you feel?
it's an idiotic suggestion at best.
i'll tell you right now, if i had trout's ear i'd tell him not to play. it's not worth it.
if my wife or baby died, i might die with them.

It’s a weird tournament this year. I’d be bummed if Trout doesn’t play, but I’ll enjoy watching any baseball there is.

If Trout ever had abandoning his team in his heart this year would’ve been his contract year. He thought long and hard about his decision to sign a life contract with the Angels. It’s safe to say that he and his wife love it here. If he takes some time off for his family he’s not abandoning his commitment to the team.

you should have left zimmerman out of your blatantly idiotic comment, he destroys the falsehood you tried to perpetuate.
zimmerman specifically opted out because he has a newborn child and his mother has parkinsons or some such devastating disease.
