Barrett reacted to Chuck in Fletcher likely done for the season
I would rather have JMF get a long look at 1B over Marte and call up Rengifo for 2B. There's no reason we should be playing the likes of Marte, Cowart or any other guys that have no future with this team IMO.

Barrett reacted to mulwin444 in AL MVP
Trout is definitely in the mix...with a 9.4 WAR, you can't really ignore that performance. I think Betts ultimately wins in because the two will end up close in WAR and Trout beat Betts for MVP in 2016 - not how I'd vote but that's the typical MVP voter logic I've seen in the past. I think for Martinez to even get into the conversation he needs to get Triple Crown Numbers but Betts and Davis are going to make it tough for him. I think Trout's only shot at winning is if Martinez does get the Triple Crown but Betts ends up beating him by 4 WAR and "numbers" voters and "SABR" voters are split between Betts, Martinez, Trout not mention you might have 4 other players (Chapman, Bregman, Ramirez, and Lindor) who are or will likely finish 8+ WAR meaning the writers that cover them may not default to Betts or Trout as their pick.
It's going to be a very interesting vote.

Barrett got a reaction from Troll Daddy in What Is The Most You Would Pay Mike Trout Before You Traded Him?
My numbers are incorrect? I guessed that the cap is 190 its just a little bit over that now. So you are not answering the question. Would you be willing to pay Trout 100 mil a year?

Barrett reacted to Angelsfan1984 in Question re: Ohtani
You must provide Gubi his random stats he blabbers on air.
This jackhole ranks 4th all time in wins during odd numbered months with a game day temperature between 81-84 degrees while the road team has at least 3 players from other countries that begin in R.

Barrett reacted to Troll Daddy in ESPN: How the Angels can convince Mike Trout to stay
If Trout becomes a FA I don’t think money will be a big factor. If he wants to stay with the Angels ... it would make sense to sign a extension now (guaranteed money).

Barrett reacted to hangin n wangin in Pujols to have bone spurs removed from his elbow
They should be. But that remains to be seen.
This franchise hasn't displayed any signs whatsoever that it will be. They have been enablers to this situation.
Such an annoying situation...and it's even more glorified when the team is playing like shit.
If Pujols is anything more than a bench bat next year, that is utter incompetence from the organization.
No other way to put it really.

How shocking is this? Dehydration? or what did they say it was? his back? it was his finger or hand that made his velocity drop? Absolutely disgusting. Congrats Angels. What a joke.

Who cares. Same result Ohtani is done pitching and probably won't be very good the first year he comes back from pitching. Who knows with the hitting, this is literally new territory for a hitter. I don't know of very many players other than pitchers getting Tommy John surgery. Just bad news all around for the Angels. Medical staff and their training staff is basically worthless. I remember years ago with Kendrys Morales, the fucked up his stuff so bad, Boras was going to murder the front office. Shoemaker who the hell knows what happened there, but it took 2 years. Every pitcher is either dehydrated or some other excuse. Just makes me sick to see Ohtani go down like this. Hell I called it on Richards when he came into spring training throwing 100 plus miles per hour. It is just par for the course.

Tanaka has pitched with a similar injury for years. Attacking the medical staff here without details is such an Internet thing to do.
Ideally this forces the Angels hand to dump TheAlbertross, freeing up DH for Ohtani next year.

I'm sorry but I did laugh. He is medically cleared to pitch. He comes out and throws 49 pitches and now needs surgery. So, dumb ass doctors or what? It seems like our medical staff went to school in van parked behind a 7 Eleven.

Barrett reacted to Dtwncbad in Are the Angels stuck?
This mindset is a bit frustrating to me. Either the team is good enough or its not. When it is not, you pursue upgrades.
You don't drift through another season with a weak performing team because "Cozart has two more years" or "Ward has earned a long look."
Let's say Ward looks pretty decent for the rest of the year and looks like he can be a passable everyday player in the majors. Does that mean you just shrug and play him everyday?
You don't if the team overall still is not good enough. You congratulate him for making it and put him in a trade package to make the Angels better.
I am not anti-Ward. I just dont think he will be good enough to make this team better enough. That has nothing to with if Ward has "earned a long look."
I see no obligation to any player that is part of a formula that keeps the Angels in purgatory.
It is very dangerous to have a mindset of "is he good enough to play" at each position and then just accept the roster and see what happens. If you put a lineup of passable players on the field you may have no individual problems but one huge problem that the team isn't good enough!
I am not picking on Ward. I am pulling for him. But this team needs a couple of significant offensive upgrades to be good enough offensively as a team.
We can sit here and justify why Cozart and Fletcher and Ward all individually might "deserve" to play, but my fear is this may just crowd the lineup with passable players.
I would like the Angels to be better than that. I would like to see more of the mindset of pursuing excellence as a team overall rather than filling holes with something that maybe might be good enough to say you don't have a problem at that position.
Unfortunately for Ward and Cozart and Fletcher, because of the need for the team to be better offensively, they need to show they can be BETTER than passable to be part of the plan in 2019.
Otherwise we sit through another 162 games of .500 ball and wonder why the team is .500 when the answer is right in front of our faces.
Having many "passable" or "good enough to play in the big leagues" players equals a middle of the pack, no postseason season.
No thanks.
