10 games at DH

10 games as PH

= 90 games played

It's possible, if they stretch it out equally for the whole season (2 to 3 games a week at 1B).

Then Ohtani can DH 150 games, which leaves 90 games at 1B for either Thaiss or Walsh.

Either by trade or Free Agency the Angels will be bringing in a stud 1B for 2019. Pujols will be on the bench.

2B- Cozart

SS- Simmons

3B- Fletcher

LF- Upton

CF-Trout

RF- Calhoun

DH- Ohtani

 

They will also bring in a stud closer.

Fernandez/Walsh/Thaiss (whoever is playing well) vs. RHP, Pujols vs. LHP. Also, Pujols vs. RHP who he matches up well against.

That should keep Pujols under 100 games.

Platoon him at 1B with one of Walsh, JMF or Thaiss. This way he only plays against southpaws or against righties he's owned over the years. Make him a part time player/hitting coach. Fire Hinske

Well, good. He's going to be here regardless, so ideally the more he can be prepped to play 1B, the better. 

I think we need a better insurance policy than Luis Valbuena, Jefry Marte, or Jose Fernandez though.

The problem is that Ohtani's roster space will be as a DH, which means we have two DH types. There are not enough roster spaces for another dedicated first base or DH type. Cozart or Ward will have to be able to play first on a somewhat regular basis.
