I’m still not worried about Rendon.  I still think he will have multiple top 5ish MVP types seasons for the Angels.

Hmmmm...I wonder why that is? In all seriousness, they likely lose that game if he pitched any further into it. I think it's an obvious decision to replace him with Suarez going forward. 

I’m more curious about the other 20% of fires “plaguing” downtown LA. Like are we talking volcanic activity, a hot war between rats in the sewer system somewhere, an absurd amount of restaurant kitchen fires, @Tank going on an all broccoli diet?

All agreed, but those guys were nowhere near the only ones. It was likely a pretty large chunk of players in the league at the time.

I'll add in little to no testing for steroids (I guess that was up and running by like 05-06, but definitely not for these seasons JATF is mentioning), and average fastball velocity being like 4-5mph lower than now.

Yeah, Salmon was a really really good player, but the 90s/early 00s had some pretty insane numbers going on among OFers. And not just the HOF-level guys like Manny, Griffey, etc... It was dudes like Juan Gonzalez, Bernie Williams, Albert Belle, Kenny Lofton, etc... Those dudes put up some freaking awesome years in that era.

I get your point... and it's kinda sorta accurate, but in my opinion not the most important part of Salmon never going to an ASG. Simply put (and this is without doing a deep dive into the numbers), I highly doubt Salmon was ever one of the three best OFers in the AL at the end of June in any year of his career (his year in 95 was pretty sick overall, so maybe then?). So expecting one fanbase with little national-level loyalty/attention being paid to them to somehow successfully execute a crazy ballot-stuffing campaign for a dude that honestly didn't fully deserve it, while other more nationally recognized teams did the the same for their guys that often actually were more deserving would've been well... asking a lot.
