AngelsFaninGA got a reaction from Anthony Tendon in The Angels and Cody Bellinger
Angels signing Bellinger would be like the Rockies signing Ian Desmond. Just a dumb unserious team trying to spend money on anyone that will talk to them in the hopes of pretending to their fans that they're trying to win.
Like ok, we can sign no one and win 65 games or we can sign Bellinger and Snell and win 71 games but the optics will be slightly better to the most casual tier of fans who don't pay attention to wins and losses. Classic Arte move.

The Angels should not be spending 200 million on anyone this off season.

AngelsFaninGA reacted to cals in LA Times: Angels clubhouse was “Twenty-five plus one.”
There’s nothing. It’s spin. Even if Ohtani got special treatment, if dudes just up from AAA were offended than they’re morons. Anyone with half a brain on any team with Ohtani would just be happy he’s on the team. This stuff is just stupid.

AngelsFaninGA reacted to cals in Bobby Valentine: Perry was set to trade Ohtani at deadline, Arte stopped him
Look, the simple fact here (allegedly) is that Ohtani would have stayed an Angel if Moreno would have matched the offer. He did not.
After the debacles of Pujols, Hamilton and Rendon, you can understand that position (to an extent).
But the insanity of trading the farm away at the end of July (and not trading Ohtani) for an outside chance of getting to the playoffs can’t be understated. It sets the club back years.
And was it all because an aging owner, faced with his own mortality, figured he’d give it one shot before he sells or dies? That’s a selfish and terrible way to run a sports franchise.
And it also makes it clear that had he sold to a competent group or individual last offseason, Ohtani would likely still be here as the crown jewel of their new franchise.
So basically: Fuck you Moreno.

AngelsFaninGA reacted to Inside Pitch in Angels did not match the Dodgers offer
The takeaway for me isn't that he wanted to -- it's that nothing had changed and the "unfinished business" guy is still keeping his GMs from being successful.
I was hoping maybe that had changed.

Least annoying bit of Angels related info today. The news Perry was wanting or willing to trade was worse.

AngelsFaninGA reacted to Taylor in How long before we finish above .500?
So just like the last five years?

AngelsFaninGA reacted to tdawg87 in Bobby Valentine: Perry was set to trade Ohtani at deadline, Arte stopped him
I won't flip out until we have more info. But this absolutely seems like something Arte would do.

This is very on-brand for Arte. Like the Arteist thing Arte could do.
-
AngelsFaninGA reacted to Lhalo in Would you all really have been happy trading Ohtani for prospects?
It was the obvious logical move. Arte wanted to sell jerseys and tickets instead of win.
The future doesn’t look much better and the fact that people think a 71 year old manager is going to magically turn things around is laughable. There needs to be a serious overhaul of this team and that includes the front office and owner.

AngelsFaninGA reacted to Second Base in Would you all really have been happy trading Ohtani for prospects?
Yes. I've been saying they should for two years now. The Angels should be in year three of five of their rebuilding phase at this point. Instead they have no prospects and a team destined to win 70 games.

AngelsFaninGA got a reaction from Kevin in Shohei Ohtani signs with the Dodgers (10 years, $700 million)
Regardless of the size of the contract, fielding a team so terrible that it convinces your generational star to sign with a cross-town rival is a downright galaxy brain move by Arte. The man is an absolute legend.
