dude is still nails at home. They should maximize the amount of starts he gets at home vs the road.

    Road: 4.70 ERA

Average will go way up, .320+, stolen bases will be 30+, k's will go way down, my guess is under 110, and his homers will be 25-30. He will have a huge year.

If a police officer stepped in, and obviously shot to defend the kid, or shot in fear of his life.  This situation would be a civil rights issue, with the savages rioting in the streets over the shooting of an unarmed black girl.  Just like on Skid Row.

I can absolutely understand someone taking exception with this country, wanting to make it better, and not being proud of every single thing it does.
But I cannot understand the people whose first inclination is to place blame upon and point the finger at this country.
To me, this country is like my family. I acknowledge they have faults and areas in which they need to improve. But they are still my family and I am and always will be loyal to them, despite their faults. And I certainly won't distance myself from them because of their flaws or call some other family better because it doesn't have those flaws.

I don't get it either. There is no downside in letting him come in. They've already paid the guy his $300,000 signing bonus so why not?

Obviously there is probably only a 1% chance the guy ever makes the majors and a .01% chance the guy is an all star. But that being said I've read reports of several scouts saying this guy had that type of talent. IMO this is a lower risk move than bringing in a guy like Mulder last year. Did that work out? No. But it didn't hurt at all to try.

I am joining late to this but it is disappointing that everyone is blaming the "non american" population at Irvine.  Really they are Chinese.  I went to school in a heavy Chinese area and they loved America.  Hell most were conservative.

This just screams of college kids "raging against the machine."  Remember most Vietnam protests happened on college campuses and hell they burned flags in those.

That said it seems like a state college should jump in and say nope sorry not happening and leave the flag up.

Obviously, from a baseball standpoint, there would a lot more people wishing for the 25-50 game rehab option as opposed to the year ban.  The fact remains his tenure in LAA has been rife with injuries, underperformance, indifference, and excuse-making so, looking at it strictly as what will be on the field, an injured, unmotivated, distracted Josh Hamilton is not someone you want on your team or in your line-up, regardless of the circumstances that led him to current state.

I don't think there is any rational poster here that does not want to see Josh emerge from this relapse a better human being, husband and father but his current reality is not condusive to a team's success and his off-field success is irrelevant if it doesn't translate to tangible success on the field.

We are not friends, family, colleagues, or aquaintances to Josh...our only relation is interest in what he can produce in an Angels uniform.

The U.S. flag should never be banned, anywhere within this great nation's borders. Anyone who isn't proud of it should get the f&%$ out of this country.

I predict the lineup will be atrocious because it won't be identical to the one I would create in a theoretical world where I am the manager.

wopphil got a reaction from Vegas Halo Fan in Angel games you kind of remember, wonder if anyone else does
One of my favorite games was sometime around 2005 I think. Playing the Mets at home. Jeremy Burnitz in center for the Mets. Someone on the Angels hits a line drive to shallow right center. Burnutz comes charging in, ball goes barely under his glove and rolls all the way to the wall. Runner gets all the way to third.
A batter or several later hits a shallow line drive to left center. Burnitz charges again, and again the ball goes just under his glove and all the way to the wall. Batter gets all the way to third I think.
Later that inning or the next someone hits a routine flyball to Burnitz. He catches it. Fans in right center applaud him loudly, and he actually takes off his cap and salutes them. It was highly entertaining (and I will forever think highly of Burnitz, just not as a defender).

Perhaps I should have phrased it a bit better, there were serious questions about his heavy workload in Japan and how that might effect him. I think you're seeing some of those innings starting to show. Had some nagging injuries last spring and over the course of last season.

From July on he hit .282 with a .785 OPS.
I would be more than happy with that over a full season. Realistically, a .270 AVG with 15 HR and a .750+ OPS is very possible for him. Especially in a contract year. That's not great but it's far from bad. If he plays the same defense he did in 2014 that will make him basically a 3 WAR player.
