  1. Agreed. Make him a huge offer he won't turn down. Would he really turn down a 12/200 offer? And is there really that much risk in giving him that sort of a contract (they did, after all, give a much older and clearly in decline Pujols 240 million over two fewer years).
  2. The last thing this team needs is another 1B/DH. Not gonna happen. Not a chance in hell.
  3. Yep. Pretty average numbers for a relief pitcher. But with our pen as bad as it is, he stands out as being one of our better arms.
  4. I think he is done. Put a fork in him. A Gary Matthews Jr. mistake, but at more than double the cost.
  5. I would like to see this country start torturing our vicious criminals before putting them to death. That is one thing the Arab countries do right (maybe the only thing)...they punish their criminals harshly.
  6. Since May 21 (so nearly a half season) Trout is hitting .369 with a 1.088 OPS. He isn't just the best player in baseball, he is far better than the next best.
  7. Hanson will be non tendered in a couple months.
  8. Offer him a $200 million dollar contract THIS off season and I guarantee he won't turn it down and we will never have to worry about him playing elsewhere.
  9. 28 points is a huge gap, especially at the already high levels at which both guys are hitting.
  10. He is garbage and I doubt he will ever be an above average player again. My guess is the best we will get out of him going forward is .250/.300/.450.750. And we might be lucky to get even that.
  11. I badly wanted the team to sign Beltre. And though when he signed with the rangers my first reaction was that they overpaid, as soon as Reagins spent essentially the same amount of money on Wells I became pretty pissed. Even without hindsight, Beltre was far less of a risk than Wells.
  12. Just give him at 15/250 contract and make sure he never wears another uniform. We could quite literally be watching the best player ever to play the game of baseball.
  13. You would probably also need some lighter fluid or gas to torch that much paper.
  14. He needs Pujols to come back healthy next year and serve as good lineup protection.
  15. Let him play everyday the next two months. If he is truly the real deal, move trumbo or bourjos in the off season.
  16. I wouldn't object to Garza if the price were right. In fact, with Callaspo's and Downs' salaries off the books, if they can move Kendrick in a deal for a young pitcher they probably would have the money to get Garza.
  17. I would love to see some mediocrity at this point.
  18. I'd put Wilson, Blanton, Pujols, and Hamilton on waivers. Obviously nobody would claim the later three, but I don't think it is totally inconceivable that someone could claim Wilson.
  19. I think he failed miserably to upgrade the bullpen this last offseason. He brought in one dependable arm (Burnett), who ironically hasn't been dependable, and he shipped away a dependable arm to get Hanson. It therefore is no surprise that our bullpen is only slightly improved, if at all, over last year. I think his attempts to upgrade the rotation were far better, even though they ultimately failed too. The Vargas trade was good, and I fully expected Blanton to be a capable 4/5 guy. I have no opinion regarding Hamilton because I think that was Arte's call. Locking up Ianetta, Aybar, and Kendrick were all great moves, IMO. I agree that this offseason is going to be very telling for Jerry. He is going to have to be extremely creative, and probably won't have a lot of cash to work with.
  20. What kills me about Trumbo is that all his struggles seem to be based on pitch recognition. When he is hitting well, he is moderately patient and when he makes contact, the ball is hit hard. But when he is going bad, he swings at so many pitches so far out of the zone that he has absolutely no chance. It is almost like he battles with sporadic vision problems.
  21. Most of us have no idea who three out of those four are.
  22. Honestly I would much rather watch the Dodgers than the Angels right now.
  23. He is dog shit and should never again be allowed to pitch in the state of Texas.
