  1. The decision to go with Wells over Beltre, for roughly the same cost, while simultaneously dumping Napoli, was a pivotal, defining moment. We not only cost ourselves 6+ wins for each of the last three years, we gave those wins to Texas.
  2. That's okay, we still have Corbin and Skaggs.
  3. I used to believe Trumbo should be virtually untouchable, but now think that if you can trade him for a decent, cost-controlled arm, it makes sense to at least consider it. Of course with how bad he has been slumping I don't see any team willing to make such a trade. Trumbo is probably pretty easy to replace on the open market. Every year it seems like there are a number of DH types who don't require huge commitments.
  4. Typical liberal bullshit. Make people who work hard and live a decent life pay for those who would rather spend the money on rims and systems for their 85 Buicks.
  5. Lock him up now. 12/200. I don't think he would turn that down.
  6. I agree. No way he turns that down. I actually think it makes sense to try to get him to a longer deal though. Something like 12-13 years, so you have him until he is 33 or so. Maybe 13/200.
  7. I am shocked at how consistent he has been, and how he has been (quietly) able to repeat what he did last year, more or less. I honestly don't think a $200,000,000 contract is out of the question. The Angels must lock him up for life, and he is young enough that a 12-14 year contract isn't necessarily unreasonable. Its funny, for all the hype that Stephen Strasburg has gotten, is there any doubt the Nationals would have drafted Trout No. 1 if they could go back in time? And just how crazy would Trout's college numbers have been if he had just last month completed his fourth year?
  8. Apparently MLB is looking to retroactively suspend Craig Biggio and Craig Counsell too.
  9. They are playing absurdly well. There is a ton of time left for them to still make the playoffs, they just can't go into any more prolonged slumps.
  10. Good play, but it wasn't as big of a deal as some of you are suggesting.
  11. Agreed. Gotta keep perspective. 4-2 would be awesome, but even 3-3 would be acceptable considering the competition.
  12. Unreal. I woke up this morning and expected to see a 7-3 loss. Can't believe they came back. What a huge win.
  13. We definitely are seeing nibs mcnibbler at his finest tonight.
  14. He has been going very late into games too. I hate to state the obvious and make a bad joke, but the guy truly has been a horse.
  15. Imagine if these guys were hitting the way they are being paid to hit.
  16. When I hear the word "Pujols" the term that immediately comes to mind is "shell of his former self." I don't understand it...plenty of hitters have remained excellent well into their late 30s. How is it that at 33, the greatest player of his generation is no longer a threat? Everyone talks about A-Rod's deal being an albatross, but Pujols is owed almost double what the Yankees owe A-Rod. Pujols's deal is horrible, but thankfully the team appears to have enough budget room to where it shouldn't prevent us from being competitive.
  17. Today they beheaded a Catholic priest, while onlookers clapped and took photos. Their culture is sick. I'd rather we not give either side any money or troops.
  18. Do you guys remember who used to be our catcher? Do you remember what his OBP was?
  19. He is what Pujols used to be (yes yes, I know, "can't wait until we give him 350,000,000 when he is a free agent in 4 years").
