  1. I think many of us might be overrating Green. Sounds like he is horrible defensively, with some serious swing flaws.
  2. Aybar accumulated more WAR than any shortstop in baseball from 2011 to 2012. He is durable and signed to an extremely club friendly deal. If I were dipoto, I would probably insist on one of these two pitching prospects as merely a starting point for any deal.
  3. Would a Lee for Kendrick swap be fair? Lee is a very good prospect and was a big-time bonus baby, but Kendrick is a very good player with two more years after this under contract. Lee's minor league numbers are good, but not excellent.
  4. What did Scioscia do wrong last night? His team took a lead into the 9th inning. He put in his "best" reliever to save the game. His "best" reliever choked, again. How is that his fault? Maybe Jerry should have given him some better pen arms.
  5. I am honestly not sure they care. I know they are competitors and want to win, but they are getting paid a shit ton of money regardless.
  6. If this guy turns out to be anything like Dane de la Rosa - a serviceable arm under club control for 6 years - i'd say it is a good trade. Remember, we are talking about just 2 months of Scott Downs. Nobody is going to give you an elite prospect for that.
  7. Trumbo is expendable because he is relatively replaceable in free agency (guys like Morales, Morse).
  8. That is surprising. Those people are usually really smart.
  9. He is actually not far off from the .800 OPS mark, and just a short hot streak should put him over the mark. If his foot is really as bad as some speculate, an .800 OPS season really isn't so bad, and makes me hopeful that if he ever does return to full health, he can improve substantially on that number.
  10. I was thinking more along the lines of: 1. Weaver 2. Harvey 3. Wilson 4. Corbin 5. Skaggs
  11. I am not the smartest man on earth, but don't you know if you have a quad injury simply by whether or not you can walk, run, jump, and stretch? Does it really take an MD to tell you that?
  12. Scioscia! Good call, man. Putting your closer back in after a horrible night. He saves the game (albeit in ugly fashion) and hopefully gets back any confidence that may have been lost last night.
  13. The Marlins wouldn't even laugh before hanging up the phone on Art...err, Jerry.
  14. Schuck is awful. Did anyone not see that GIDP coming?
  15. I agree with you AJ. The team owes way too much money to its big guys, most of whom are immovable, to rebuild. Instead, I see them re-tooling and hoping for better luck next year.
  16. I was for the Blanton signing too. I figured he would give us a 4.50 ERA over 200 innings. Maybe even a 4.25 ERA if things broke right. Clearly, that won't be the case.
  17. It is hard for me to find fault with Scioscia. Take yesterday's game for example - could any manager on earth have obtained a different outcome? So many games have been lost by 3 or more runs, due to such things as terrible starting pitching and the complete absence of Pujols/Hamilton. How is any of that Scioscia's fault? Scioscia didn't construct this team. Perhaps a better way of looking at things is like this: What moves has Scioscia made that you guys take issue with? What, specifically, can you point to that he has done wrong? I would agree that his bullpen management has been bad in a few of the games this year, but I am sure that is the case with all 30 managers in MLB. Would moving Hamilton down in the lineup earlier in the year really changed where we are in the standings? Would Conger's .744 OPS really have won more games than Ianetta's .702 OPS? With how poorly Williams has pitched the last month, can any of you reasonably say that if he had replaced Blanton in the rotation, this team would be better off? You guys want a scape goat just because you think it will vindicate your dissatisfaction with this team. But it won't. Organizational success is cyclical, and we are now paying the price for some very bad free agents signings and some short-sighted trades, none of which are Scioscia's fault. If Jerry does his job, in time the team will be good again.
  18. In their defense, they did win the series (against one of the best teams in baseball).
  19. For his AAV, he has come close. He really hasn't been that different from Greinke the last two years, at about 60% of the price.
  20. This is partially why I believe there is no chance of us making the playoffs. Too many good teams ahead of us. Even if we play .625 ball from here on out, plenty of other teams will play close to that and are too far ahead for us to catch.
  21. Olt is the most over-rated prospect in baseball. He has been horrible this year, and is now getting old. He is Dallas MacPherson Part II.
  22. Thankfully we have a strong farm that will provide an influx of cheap talent to fill the holes and balance things out over the coming years.
